The Pearl Academy Selection Process for 2025 is based on two rounds of selection: a written entrance exam and a personal interview round.   • Merit: Admission to the UG and PG courses offered by Pearl Academy is dependent on the merit of the written admission test (GPT/DAT/MAT). 
  • Personal Interview Round: The selection is also based on the performance of candidates in the personal interview or portfolio evaluation round. 
  • Rank & Preference: The allocation of the program and the centre will be done based on the rank and preference of the selected student. 
  • Professional certificate course selection: The selection for the professional certificate course of 11 months is done as per the performance in the personal interview. 
  • Admission cycle: The Pearl Academy has multiple admission cycles across the year. For each admission cycle, there is a different result sheet with cut-off/grades and weights released by the Admission/Selection Committee. 
  • Admission letter: Students can check out the admission letter online with the required information along with the fee structure of the desired course. 
  • Freeze the allocated seat: Students can freeze the seats by submitting the required fees within the specified last date. However, if the candidate fails to pay the fee within the deadline, the same seat will be offered to the next deserving candidate.
  • Appear for another admission cycle: In case, a candidate doesn’t qualify for a Pearl Academy admission cycle, they can still appear for the next admission cycle.

Waiver of General Proficiency Test (GPT) and Design Aptitude Test (DAT)

Candidates must note that there is a waiver of the GPT and DAT exams which are part of the Pearl Academy selection process. However, it is applicable only to the ones who meet the prescribed requirements set by the conducting body. Refer to more details below:

For UG Program Applicants

Candidates applying for the UG level program at the Pearl Academy must check these criteria for the waiver of the entrance exam. Check out below:

  • NATA scorecard shall be considered.
  • It is applicable only for a 4-Year undergraduate course in Interior Design and Product Design 

Note: Candidates must enclose a copy of the NATA scorecard (whichever is applicable) along with the duly filled application form.

For PG Program Applicants

Candidates applying for any PG courses offered at the Pearl Academy are allowed the waiver of the General Proficiency Test (GPT). However, the same is applicable only if the candidates score the prescribed marks as mentioned below:  
These students will be directly invited for a Personal Interview round subject to the submission of valid scores.

  • CAT
  • AIMA – MAT
  • GMAT 

The minimum scores of CAT/MAT/GMAT for a waiver of the General Proficiency Test (GPT) required are mentioned below:

  • Minimum CAT score of 60 percentile or above
  • Minimum MAT score of 500 or above
  • A minimum GMAT score of 450 or above

To avail of the same, candidates must submit an attested copy of the scorecard along with the application form. In case the candidate does not have a valid scorecard, the waiver shall not be offered. Design stream/Media & Communication (Journalism & Entertainment) aspirants, who are allowed waiver of GPT must have to take the Design Aptitude Test (DAT) and Media Aptitude Test respectively. The decision to grant a waiver rests with the administration of Pearl Academy.

  • All UG and PG level Courses: For admission in all UG and PG level courses candidates' performance in the written entrance test and personal interview round are evaluated. Shortlisted candidates through the written test (GPT/DAT/MAT) can appear for the personal interview round. 
  • 11-Month-Long PG Advance Diploma Design (Fashion & Textiles): Admission to this advance diploma programme is based on the written admission test (GPT/DAT/MAT) and the Portfolio Evaluation/Personal Interview round. Candidates will be judged based on both rounds. 
  • 11-Month-Long Professional Certificate Program: This certificate program requires candidates to appear for a personal interview round. The selection for this course is solely on personal interviews.
