SEED Selection Process 2025

Registration for the SEED 2025 entrance exam, organized by Symbiosis Institute of Design, started on August 16, 2024. Interested students, to know the important dates about the same, should visit the official website: sid.edu.in. Admission seekers in the design programme at SID need to appear for the SEED online exam conducted on January 12, 2025.

The SEED exam takes place in two parts: an online exam and a portfolio review. First, candidates take an online proctored exam. This part tests their abilities in scientific and mathematical knowledge, creativity, problem-solving, and more. The top performers move on to the next stage, which is the Portfolio Review and Personal Interview (PRPI) round. Here, candidates present their portfolios and interact with a panel. Both the exam scores and the PRPI performance determine the final selection. The BDes program begins in July 2025 after the SEED 2025 merit list is released on April 21, 2025. Detailed SEED Selection Process 2025

The three important stages of the SEED selection process 2025 comprise the SEED exam, Studio Round, and Personal Interviews. These are considered major steps toward admission to design colleges. As soon as the SEED exam is conducted, the organizing body publishes a list of eligible candidates for further rounds of Portfolio Review and Personal Interaction. After the list is out, candidates have to book their slots for PRPI immediately. Then comes the admit card of SEED for the PRPI round. A student is supposed to upload portfolios and PRPI tasks within the given time window in this round. PRPI will be conducted on the booked slots. After all the rounds are over, a merit list is released.

What is a Portfolio Round?

The Portfolio Round is the second stage in the SEED selection process; it is a decision stage among the candidates for whom the institution has strict submission guidelines for portfolios. This portfolio should contain the most advanced work of the candidate which incorporates sketches, picture collages, 2D- and 3D-designs, statuettes, fabrics, gadgets, art pieces, collages, and other such digital images or paper crafts, photos, videos, etc.

In this round, the creativity, drawing skills, and innovative thought processes of the individuals are evaluated. The candidates must portray a diverse set of skills, interests, and techniques through the portfolio to generate an impressive outcome.

What is the Personal Interview Round?

The Personal Interview is the third and final stage for those who qualify for the portfolio round. This round assesses the candidate’s interpersonal relations, knowledge and confidence. The questions asked can vary widely and may pertain to the submitted portfolio as well. Because this particular interview is for design courses, one should expect the interviewers to request of the candidates some presentations which implies that basic art equipment such as pencils and paper would be quite appropriate to have.
