SSC CGL selection process 2024 comprises three stages – Tier 1, Tier 2, and Document Verification (DV). Both the tiers will be conducted in the computer-based mode. SSC CGL Selection Process 2024: The SSC CGL 2024 Tier 1 results are expected to be officially released in October 2024, on the official website at ssc.nic.in. Candidates are required to enter their roll number and date of birth to check their results. Furthermore, according to a statement released by the SSC outlining the selection process, which entails the shortlisting of candidates for the Tier-II examination based on their Tier-I performance. This includes distinct cutoff scores specified for various positions, (including Assistant Audit Officer and Assistant Accounts Officer (List-1), Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) (List-2), Statistical Investigator Grade-II (SI) (List-3), as well as all other available positions (List-4). The Tier 1 exam is being conducted from September 9 to September 26, 2024.

The SSC CGL Selection Process 2024 will consist of 2 stages; Tier 1, and Tier 2, and Document Verification. The 3 stages involved in SSC CGL Selection Process 2024 which the candidates need to qualify are:

Tier I

Candidate has to score minimum qualifying marks to appear for the next step of the SSC CGL selection process.

Tier II

Candidate has to score minimum qualifying marks to qualify for the Stage 3 selection process. Marks obtained in Tier 1 and Tier 2 will undergo a normalization process and the final merit list will be prepared based on the total score. 

Final Selection

SSC CGL Selection Process 2024 for Stage 1

The SSC CGL 2024 Tier 1 exam is the first step in the selection process for applicants who have successfully filled out the SSC CGL 2024 application form. Tier-1 exam will be conducted as a computer-based test. Appearing for the SSC CGL Tier 1 exam and qualifying it by scoring more than or equal to the prescribed SSC CGL Cut Off stands as mandatory to become eligible for Tier 2. Post Specific Cut-offs for Tier-II

  • Different cut-offs set for various posts in Tier-II:
  • Junior Statistical Officer: Paper-I & Paper-II.
  • Statistical Investigator Grade-II: Paper-I & Paper-II.
  • Assistant Audit Officer/Assistant Accounts Officer: Paper-I & Paper-III.
  • Other posts: Paper-I.
  • Tier 1 of SSC CGL 2024 will consist of 100 questions of 2 marks each. According to the SSC CGL Exam Pattern 2024, applicants receive two points for each correctly answered question, while one point is deducted for an incorrect response.

  • The total mark for the SSC CGL Tier 1 exam is 200.

  • The questions asked in the SSC CGL Tier 1 exam will revolve around topics related to the English language, general awareness, general intelligence & reasoning, and quantitative aptitude.

  • Candidates who pass the CGL Tier 1 test will be eligible to participate in stage 2 of the SSC CGL exam (Tier 2).

SSC CGL Selection Process 2024: Stage 2

SSC CGL Tier 2 exam will be conducted in CBT mode (Computer-based test). The tier 2 exam is divided into 3 papers; paper I, II and III. These papers will consist of multiple choice questions, except for the Module II of Section-III of SSC CGL Paper II 2024.

Tier-II Examination Overview

  • Tier-II conducted for all Tier-I qualified candidates.
  • Paper-I: All candidates attempt all three sections.
  • Paper-II & Paper-III: Required only for specific posts.

Qualification in Paper-I of Tier-II

  • Compulsory qualification in all sections of Paper-I.

Shortlisting for Section-III Evaluation

  • Based on the performance in Section-I & Section-II of Paper-I:
  • Candidates shortlisted for Section-III evaluation.
  • Candidates not qualifying in Section-I + Section-II are excluded.

Nature of Section-III in Paper-I of Tier-II

  • Section III is qualifying.
  • Two modules: Computer Knowledge Test and DEST.
  • Higher cut-off for Computer Proficiency prescribed posts in Module-I.
  • Higher standard/cut-off for Computer Proficiency or DEST prescribed posts in Module-II.
  • The Tier 2 exam will be conducted in both languages; English as well as Hindi whereas the English comprehension section will only be available in English.

  • Paper 1 of SSC CGL 2024 is required for all the posts, hence, it has to be taken by every candidate. Candidate has to pass sections I and II of Paper-I to get shortlisted for Section III of Paper-I.

  • Candidates who do not qualify for  Sections I and II will not be allowed to sit for Section III and they will be prohibited from participating in the next round of the SSC CGL selection process.

  • Candidates who have qualified the sections I and II will appear for the Data Entry Speed Test (DEST).

  • Only those applicants who apply for and are shortlisted for Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) positions in the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation will be allowed to take Paper II.

  • Paper-III of SSC CGL 2024 will only be available for those applicants who are selected in Tier-I for Paper-III. These candidates are selected for the positions of Assistant Audit Officer/Assistant Accounts Officer.

SSC CGL Selection Process 2024 - Stage 3 (Document Verification)

The candidates who qualify for stage 1 and 2 in the SSC CGL Selection Process 2024 will have to get their documents verified as the further step. It is mandatory for all candidates to submit their original documents along with photocopies to get them verified. Only after document verification, the candidates can move forward. The list of documents required for SSC CGL document verification 2024 are listed below:

  • 2 recent passport-size colored photographs
  • One original Photo-ID proof
  • Copy of Matriculation/ Secondary Certificate
  • Educational Qualification Certificate
  • Caste/ Category Certificate (if any)
  • A person with Disabilities Certificate (if any)
  • Serving Defence Personnel Certificate (if any)
  • Undertaking Certificate (Ex-servicemen) (if any)
  • Discharge Certificate (if any)

SSC CGL Minimum Qualifying Marks 2024

All the candidates have to acquire the SSC CGL 2024 minimum qualifying marks to pass all the stages of the selection process.   • On the basis of the total score in Tier-I and Tier-II, the final merit of the selected candidates will be prepared.

  • All India Merit List will be prepared for each category for various posts by SSC.

  • Only to the shortlisted candidates, letter of appointments will be given.

SSC CGL Selection Procedure 2024 – Tie-Breaker

In case of a tie in Tier II exam of SSC CGL 2024, the following will be considered for deciding ranks SSC CGL final merit list:

  • Total marks obtained in Paper II and III of SSC CGL Tier II are given priority for the posts of JSO and AAO.

  • Total marks obtained in Section I of paper-I of  SSC CGL Tier II are considered.

  • Date of Birth, with older placed higher.

  • Alphabetical order in which the first names of the candidates appear

SSC CGL Selection Process 2024: Stage 3

Stage 3: Tier III Descriptive Test

  • Candidates will be shortlisted for Tier III on the basis of their performance in Tier I and Tier II.

  • The Descriptive Test of SSC CGL will be conducted in Pen and Paper mode.

  • The qualifying marks in Tier-III would be 33% and the questions asked at this stage will be of class 12 standard.

SSC CGL Selection Process 2023: Stage 4

Stage 4: Tier IV Data Entry Skill Test (DEST) /Computer Proficiency Test (CPT)

  • As per the marks scored by the candidates in Tier I and Tier II, candidates will determine the eligibility of the candidates to appear in Tier IV.

  • Tier-IV will continue to be the Data Entry Skill Test (DEST) /Computer Proficiency Test (CPT), which will be of qualifying nature.
