Candidates must know the eligibility criteria before applying for this entrance. The candidates who fit in all the eligibility criteria are only eligible for UPES DAT. Refer to the details below to learn about the criteria:
Eligibility Criteria for BDes Course
Board Exam Merit: Check out the eligibility criteria for the BDes course below:
- Students who have passed classes 10 and 12 from a recognised board with a minimum of 50% marks are eligible for this design course.
UCEED/JEE Main Merit: If candidates don't intend to appear for the UPES DAT, they can still apply for UPES, however, they must fulfil any one of the below criteria.
- Students must have scored at least 65% in their classes 10 and 12.
- They should also have qualified JEE Main or UCEED test.
Eligibility Criteria for MDes Course

- Candidates must have scored a minimum of 50% in classes 10 and 12.
- Their bachelor's degree must be BTech or BE in any field/ BFA (4 years duration), BSc in Design (3 years duration)/ BArch/BDes along with one year of Foundation/ Applied course with a minimum of 50% score.
Students who intend to get admitted to the MDes course must meet the criteria given below:
- Candidates without attempting the UPES DAT must have a valid CEED score to be eligible for MDes.
Age Criteria for UPES DAT
The candidate’s date of birth as per the Secondary Education Board/University certificate will be considered genuine. The ones with a birth date on or after October 1, 1999, will be able to apply through this entrance exam.
Admission through the CEED Exam
Students who have qualified for the CEED exam with a score of 40.5 or above will not have to appear for the UPES DAT exam. Such students will have to only appear for the portfolio presentation and personal interview rounds.
