CUET Political Science Question Paper

CUET Political Science Question Paper is made available by the National Testing Agency. According to the examination pattern of CUET, the Political Science question paper consists of 50 questions. Candidates are asked to attempt only 40 questions. Each question carries 5 marks. There is a negative marking for CUET Political Science question paper. 1 mark is deducted for every wrong answer. The examination pattern and the syllabus of the Political Science for CUET UG 2024 are going to be the same as the previous years based on the recent year trends. The National Testing Agency administered the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for 2023-24 in online mode. The CUET 2023 Political Science question paper is yet to be published by NTA. Candidates can refer to some of the memory-based questions that we have collected from the test takers of last year. We will update the Political Science question paper PDF of CUET 2023 as soon as it is released.

CUET Political Science Question Paper 2023 consisted of 50 questions. The type of question asked in the exam is multiple choice (MCQ). The topic wise weightage of the CUET Political Science question paper has been provided in the following table.

CUET Political Science Question Paper 2022 PDF Download

CUET 2022 was conducted from July 15 to August 30, 2022. According to the examination pattern the question paper consisted of 50 questions out of which 40 questions must be answered. The Political Science was conducted for 200 marks for the duration of 45 minutes. 

The topics covered in the CUET 2022 Political Science Question Paper were Security in Contemporary World, India’s External Relations with China, Bangladesh, Tashken agreement, and India’s nuclear policy, End of bipolarity, Regional Aspirations like Mizo rebellion, Assam accord sign, Cold War Era, Environment and Natural Resources including Kyoto Protocol and Earth Summit.

Candidates interested to take the CUET 2024 Political Science must be acquainted with the important topics. Knowing the important topics will help the test takers plan strategically for the exam preparation.  The following are the CUET Political Science important topics

The important topics for CUET Political Science Section 1 - “Politics in India since Independence” of the Political Science are given below:

  • Challenges of Nation-Building - Nehru’s approach to nation-building, Legacy of partition, the challenge of ‘refugee’ resettlement, the Kashmir problem, organisation and reorganisation of states, and Political conflicts over language. 
  • Politics of Planned Development - Five-year plans, expansion of the state sector, the rise of new economic interests, Famine and suspension of five-year plans, Green revolution and its political fallouts. 
  • India’s External Relations - Nehru’s foreign policy, the Sino-Indian war of 1962, the Indo-Pak war of 1965 and 1971, India’s nuclear program, and shifting alliances in world politics. 
  • Crisis of the Democratic / Constitutional Order - Search for ‘committed’ bureaucracy and judiciary, Navnirman movement in Gujarat, the Bihar movement, Emergency constitutional, and extra-constitutional dimensions, resistance to the emergency, 1977 elections, and the formation of the Janata Party. 
  • Rise of Popular Social Movements - Farmers’ movements, Women’s movements, Environment, Development-affected people’s movements, Implementation of Mandal Commission report and its aftermath. 
  • Recent Issues & Challenges - Challenge, responses to globalisation, Rise of OBCs in North Indian politics, Dalit politics in the electoral and non-electoral arena, new economic policy, and its opposition, Ayodhya dispute, and Gujarat riots. 
  • Democratic Upsurge and Coalition Politics - Participatory upsurge in the 1990s, Rise of the JD and the BJP, the increasing role of regional parties and coalition politics, UF and NDA governments, Elections 2004 and UPA government.

  • Cold War Era in World Politics - Emergence of two power blocs after the second world war, Arenas of the cold war, Challenges to Bipolarity, the quest for new international economic order, India and the cold war. 
  • The Disintegration of “Second World” and the End of Bipolarity - New entities in world politics: Russia, Balkan states, and Central Asian states. India’s relations with Russia and other post-communist countries, Introduction of democratic politics and capitalism in post-communist regimes. 
  • US Dominance in World Politics - First Gulf War, response to 9/11, and attack on Iraq, Growth of unilateralism - Afghanistan. Dominance and challenge to the US in the economy, India’s renegotiation of its relationship with the USA. 
  • International Organizations in Unipolar World - Restructuring and the future of the UN, India’s position in the restructured UN, New international economic organisations, NGOs.
  • Environment and Natural Resources in Global Politics - Environment movement and evolution of global environmental norms, Conflicts over traditional and common property resources, Rights of indigenous people, and India’s stand-in global environmental debates. 
  • Globalisation and its Critics - Economic, cultural, and political manifestations, Debates on the nature of consequences of globalisation, and Anti-globalization movements. India is an arena of globalisation and struggles against it.
