    JEE Advanced Paper Analysis 2019

    The JEE Advanced 2019 exam was conducted by IIT Roorkee on 27th May 2019 in two shifts. Candidates appearing for JEE Advanced 2019 had to appear in both the Paper I and Paper II for admission into various IITs and premier institutions in India. The JEE Advanced 2019 Paper I was conducted in the first shift, i.e from 9:00 am till 12:00 noon while the Paper II for JEE Advanced 2019 was conducted from 2:00 pm till 5:00 pm. CollegeDekho spoke to the students after the conclusion of JEE Advanced 2019 Paper I & Paper II and provided below is the paper analysis for the same.

    JEE Advanced 2019 Paper I Analysis

    The JEE Advanced 2019 Paper I was conducted in the morning shift which consisted of a total of 54 questions. The Paper I was divided into three sections-Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and the candidates had a maximum of 180 minutes to try and attempt all the questions. The maximum marks for the JEE Advanced 2019 Paper I was 186.

    JEE Advanced 2019 Paper I Section 1 Analysis

    • This section had 4 questions and each question carried 3 marks

    • The maximum marks for this section were 12

    • For every correct answer, the candidates will be awarded 3 marks while for every incorrect entry 1 mark will be deducted

    • There will be no negative marking for the unattempted questions

    JEE Advanced 2019 Paper I Section 2 Analysis

    • This section comprised of 8 questions where each question carried 4 marks

    • The maximum marks for this section were 32

    • For every correct answer, the candidates will be awarded 4 marks

    • For every incorrect answer, 1 mark will be deducted and there will be no negative marking for the unattempted questions

    • This section consisted of 6 questions where each question carried 3 marks

    Overall Analysis of JEE Advanced 2019 Paper I

    Students who took the Paper I of JEE Advanced 2019 felt the difficulty level of the paper was moderate to difficult. Physics, as usual, was the toughest section of all. Physics questions were based on Class XIth and Class XIIth syllabus while Algebra & Coordinate Geometry questions dominated the Mathematics section and the Chemistry questions were mostly related to Inorganic and Physical Chemistry. Except for the total marks of the JEE Advanced 2019 Paper I, which was changed from 180 to 186 this year, the rest of the paper was similar to previous year JEE Advanced paper.

    JEE Advanced 2019 Paper II Analysis

    JEE Advanced Paper II for the year 2019 was conducted in the evening shift, i.e from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm by IIT Roorkee on 27th May 2019. IIT JEE Advanced 2019 Paper II was also conducted in online mode and it is estimated that over 1.73 lakh students appeared for the same. The total number of questions asked in the JEE Advanced 2019 Paper II was 54 which is the same as the previous year. The maximum marks of Paper II JEE Advanced 2019 were increased from 180 to 186 this year.

    JEE Advanced 2019 Paper II Section 1 Analysis

    • This section was comparatively easy than Paper I Section 1

    • The questions asked in this section were mostly conceptual

    • The questions were based on Class XI and Class XII syllabus

    • The students, as usual, felt this section to be the easiest of all

    • Most of the questions asked in this section were from Inorganic and Physical Chemistry

    JEE Advanced 2019 Paper II Section 3 Analysis

    • The students reported that the difficulty level of this section was moderate to hard

    Overall Analysis of JEE Advanced 2019 Paper II

    Students who appeared in the JEE Advanced 2019 paper II exam reported that the overall difficulty level of the exam was moderate to difficult. The students, however, felt that compared to JEE Advanced 2019 Paper I, Paper II was easier. While Physics was tough in Paper I, Paper II Mathematics section was lengthy. Compared to the previous year, the JEE Advanced 2019 Paper II was tougher and most of the students could not complete the paper within the stipulated time. Students who had a good hold over the concepts and better time management strategy fared well in the exams. The questions were in MCQ format which had either single or multiple correct answers. According to the experts, the overall difficulty level of JEE Advanced 2019 paper I and Paper II was moderately difficult. They feel this year's General category cutoff may hover between 127 and 142 which may be enough for securing a seat in the IITs and leading Institutes in India.

    JEE Advanced 2019 Pre-Exam Analysis

    JEE Advanced 2019 will be conducted by IIT Roorkee on 27th May 2019 in online mode, and the candidates aspiring for admissions into various IITs and premier Institutes in India will be taking the JEE Advanced 2019 examination. Only those candidates who will qualify the JEE Advanced 2019 examination, which consists of two papers-Paper I and Paper II will be offered admission into various JEE Advanced 2019 participating colleges. The candidates appearing for JEE Advanced 2019 must sit in both the papers and on the basis of their performance in both Paper I and Paper II, the JEE Advanced 2019 rank list will be prepared. JEE Advanced Paper I will be conducted in the first shift, i.e from 9 am to 12 noon while Paper II is scheduled to take place in the second shift, i.e from 2 pm to 5 pm. The JEE Advanced 2019 result will be declared on 14th June 2019 and the qualified candidates will be able to participate in the further admission process.

    Both the JEE Advanced Paper I and Paper II will be divided into three sections, i.e Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics to assess the analytical, comprehension and reasoning skills of the candidates. Each paper in JEE Advanced 2019 examination will carry 54 questions based on the topics covered in Class XI and Class XII. Each paper will carry maximum marks of 183 and the candidates will have 180 minutes (3 hours) to complete the same. The candidates will have the liberty to answer in either Hindi or English in the JEE Advanced 2019 examination. The candidates will only be allowed to use a Blue or Black Ballpoint pen while answering the questions. There will be negative marking in JEE Advanced 2019 examination.

    JEE Advanced 2020 Pre-Exam Analysis

    Candidates looking for the pre-exam analysis of JEE Advanced 2020, which is scheduled to be conducted on the 27th of September 2020, must go through the entire section in a very detailed manner.       The Paper I of JEE Advanced 2018 had a time duration of three hours. It had 54 questions in total and a maximum of 180 marks, which were distributed across three sections – Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics. The maximum marks for each section was 60.

      Every section of the paper was divided into three parts:

      Part 1 comprised of six questions. Every question was followed by four options in which multiple options were correct. In case, all options marked are correct, +4 marks are awarded i.e. +1 for each correct response. No marks for the unanswered questions and -2 marks are deducted in all other cases. The maximum marks for a student to score in this part is 24.

      Part 2 comprised of eight questions. The correct response is a numerical value. For every question, the correct numerical value was to be rounded off to the second decimal place. The maximum marks for a student to score in this part is 24. For the correct answer, +3 marks are awarded and no marks are given in all other cases. 

      In Part 3, there were two comprehensions with two questions asked in each. Each question was followed by four options, out which only one was correct. For marking the correct option, candidates get a +3 and no marks are given if a question is not answered. For all other cases, candidates get -1. The maximum marks for a candidate to score in this section is12.

        The format of Paper 1 and Paper 2 were almost same but Paper 2 was more lengthy as compared to Paper 1. Students found Paper 2 more difficult as compared to Paper 1.

        The good number of attempts in this paper was 40 to 45 at an accuracy of 85% to 90% and that would get a score of 115 plus out of 180, which is a decent score for getting into the top IITs.

        Questions were there from both 11th and 12th class syllabus in almost equal proportion in all the three subjects.

        Section 3 of each subject had 4 questions. Each question had 2 matching list, and only one out of the 4 options was matching.

        This section was relatively more tedious and difficult as it required a lot of precision.

          JEE Advanced 2017 Exam Analysis

          JEE Advanced 2017 examination took place peacefully on May 21, 2017. This year, around 1.7 lakh candidates appeared for the examination. Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT-Madras) conducted JEE Advanced 2017 examination that consisted of two papers, i.e., Paper I and Paper II.

          JEE Advanced 2017 Paper I Analysis: 

          • According to experts, the JEE Advanced 2017 was neither easy nor tough. The difficulty level was moderate.
          • Compared to the previous year, Paper I was easy.
          • The entire Paper I carried 183 marks with each subject having a weightage of 61 marks.
          • The paper had a mix of passage type questions, integer type questions and multiple correct choice questions.
          • On a whole, there were 18 passage questions for 54 marks, 15 integer type questions for 45 marks and 21 multiple correct choice questions for 84 marks.

          JEE Advanced 2017 Paper II Analysis: 

          • Experts felt that Paper II was easy this year and also as compared to Paper I.
          • It had a mix of passage type single choice questions, multiple correct choice and single choice questions.
          • Students will get 3 marks each for a correct single choice question while one mark will be deducted in case the answer is incorrect.
          • Coming to multiple-choice questions, students will get 4 marks for fully correct answers, one mark for partially correct answers while will have to bear a deduction of two marks for incorrect answers.
          • There will be no negative marking for passage type questions.
          • Paper II was for 183 marks.
          • It had 12 passage type single choice questions for 36 marks, 21 multiple-choice questions for 84 marks and 21 single choice questions for 63 marks.
