According to the IIAD exam pattern, students have to appear for the Design Aptitude Test (iDAT) which is a written entrance eczema conducted for 2 hours and 30 minutes. Check out the section division below:

It must be noted that if an individual who is willing to apply for the Interior Architecture and Design course, has already appeared for NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture), he/she is exempted from appearing for the written exam. Such candidates will be analyzed as per their performance in the portfolio assessment and studio simulation rounds only.
Candidates need to appear for the Studio Simulation round after the written entrance exam. The studio simulation is regarded as the personal interaction round. It is also important for taking admission at the IIAD.
This round is to analyse the candidate’s problem-solving approach, teamwork, creativity, innovation and presentation skills. In this round, candidates have to showcase their teamwork and creative skills. It is conducted within a group of 10-15 students in 2 hours duration. Candidates will be given materials and they have to prepare a 3D model in the direction of the invigilator.

Sections: There are two sections in the entrance exam — Creative Thinking & Visual Aptitude and Logical Reasoning.
Total Marks: Each of the two sections is worth 100 marks, whereas the exam has a total of 200 marks. The exam lasts for two hours and thirty minutes.
Negative Marking: This test does not have any negative marking scheme. Questions that are left unanswered and with incorrect responses will not be deducted.
Correct answer marks: One mark will be awarded to applicants for each correct response. Questions involving drawings and descriptions will receive five or more marks.
Medium: Responses only in the English language will be accepted for an online version of the test.
Candidates who have applied for Fashion Management courses need to appear for a different entrance than the iDAT. They have to sit for IIAD Management Aptitude Test (iMAT). The iMAT also has two rounds.
The first stage is the written entrance test and the second is the personal interview. Candidates who qualify for this admission test will be called for the interview round. It must be noted that applicants who pass both the written test and interview rounds will be granted admission to this management course.
iMAT exam pattern is framed as such to analyse the language, creative thinking and logical reasoning skills of the candidate. This Management Aptitude Test is only for students who are applying for the Fashion Business Management course. Its selection is again divided into two parts - the written part and the personal interview. The entrance test is for 2 hours and will take place at multiple exam centres in the country.
Only candidates who appear for iMAT 2025 will be able to sit for the personal interview round. This interview round is the second part of the admission process for the Fashion Management course.
