  • The candidate must take the NIFT 2025 (GAT and CAT) written tests. The written examinations will be administered on paper

NIFT Situation Test 2025

Every year, following the written test, the NIFT 2025 exam is held to select the most competent students. The following procedure can be completed by all applicants for the Bachelor of Design (BDes) programme to gain a thorough grasp of the NIFT Situation Test:

  • Following their selection from the NIFT written admission exam, shortlisted students must complete an on-the-spot Situation Test. This is an assessment of their material handling skills and capacity to think creatively under pressure using a limited amount of resources.

  • It is strictly forbidden for students to utilise any other materials not included in the provided list.

  • Several criteria will be used for assessing the model, including space visualisation, inventive and creative use of the provided material, element composition, colour scheme, developing skill, overall presentation, aesthetic finesse, etc.

  • An applicant's write-up outlining the idea behind their model will be used to verify the parameters.

  • The write-up must be in English since that is the language of instruction at NIFT.

  • A piece of content written in a different language will not receive any credit.

  • Additionally, applicants who attempt to reveal their identity through the writing of any personal information or the placement of an identifiable mark on the model, design, or write-up will be eliminated immediately, and their results will not be made public.

  • The jury will assess the test immediately, and the presented model will not be retained for any future use.

What is the Selection Ratio for the NIFT 2025 Exam?

The NIFT 2025 selection ratio is simply the number of shortlisted applicants who cleared the GAT and CAT stages of the exam and have been finalised for the NIFT Situation Test stage. As per the official data released by the conducting body, there is a 1:4 selection ratio for the NIFT 2025 exam. In other words, the NIFT 2025 selection ratio states that only one in every four of the NIFT test takers will be shortlisted for the Situation Test. Given that the NIFT 2025 combined intake is 5,289 seats, students will be allocated their desired Design programme across a total of 18 NIFT campuses in India. Thus, a NIFT 2025 selection ratio of 1:4 will aid the administrating authority in filtering out potential candidates from the rest of the competition.
