TANCET Eligibility Criteria 2025

TANCET Eligibility Criteria 2025: Anna University prescribes the eligibility criteria to appear for the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) examination. According to the latest TANCET eligibility criteria, to appear for the TANCET exam, candidates must hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent from the relevant streams. However, there is no age limit to appear for the TANCET exam 2025. 

The TANCET eligibility criteria are released in the information brochure PDF, which will be released on the official website: tancet.annauniv.edu. Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria will be allowed to fill out the TANCET Application Form 2025. The candidates failing to meet the eligibility criteria not be allowed to fill out the application form, or their candidature can be lost at any point of the exam.

Detailed Eligibility Criteria for TANCET 2025

Following is the eligibility norms for 2025 TANCET:

  • Candidates appearing for last semester are also eligible but they may need to produce all the documents within the time limit given.
  • Candidates who belong to another state can also apply but the eligibility will be determined by the respective authorities.
  • Candidates with valid GATE scores with qualifying marks in relevant disciplines of Engineering /Technology, do not need to appear for TANCET 2025 exam.
  • Candidates who have a valid GATE score with qualifying marks in Engineering Science (XE) and Life Science (XL), have to appear for TANCET 2025 exam also.
  • This Bachelors degree should be under 10+2+3/ 10+2+4/ 10+2+2+1.
  • The degree can be B.Tech/B.E/ MCA/ Sc./ B.Pharm. / B.Sc/ B Com or relevant degree from Science, Arts, Commerce.
  • Candidates with a 10+2 + AMIE* (or) 10+3 years diploma (awarded by the State Board of Technical Education) + AMIE.* are eligible to appear for the entrance examination

MBA

The candidate should have a bachelor's degree from any institute recognised by UGC or should be registered with the Indian Government. Candidates should have scored at least 50% (45% in the case of candidates belonging to the reserved category) in the qualifying degree examination. 

(a) 10+2+3 years

(b) 10+3 years Diploma + 3 years

pattern (or)

(c) B.E./B.Tech./B.Arch./B.Pharm. (or)

(d) (i) 10+2+AMIE* (or)

(ii) 10+3 Years diploma (awarded by the State Board of

Technical Education) + AMIE

MCA

A pass in a recognized Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years duration in BCA, B.Sc. (Information Technology / Computer Science), Computer Science and Engineering or equivalent* and obtained atleast 50% (45% in the case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in the qualifying degree examination

M.Arch

Candidates need to have a BArch degree from a reputable institute

AIIA (Associateship Examination of the Indian Institute of Architects) with a valid registration with the Council of Architecture

MCA Lateral Entry 

A pass in a recognized Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years duration (in disciplines other than the ones mentioned above) with Mathematics at 10+2 level or at Graduate level and obtained at least 50% (45% in the case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in the qualifying degree examination

M.E. / M.Tech/

Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree (Btech or BE) or any equivalent in the relevant field and obtain at least 50 % (45 % in the case of candidates belonging to the reserved category) in the qualifying degree examination from any recognised institute/university.

Note: The required bachelor's degree varies according to the chosen Mtech course. Candidates must check the required graduate degree according to their chosen course.

M.Plan 

Candidates must have completed Bachelor's degree in either of the following courses

1. B. Plan.

2. B. Arch.

3. B.E. (Civil Engg.)

4. AIIA*

M.A. / M.Sc.

i) Geography

ii) Economics

iii) Sociology

iv) Social Work with Community development

specialisation and Rural Development

Note: The admission to the participating colleges through TANCET is completely based on the admission offering college, and it can change according to the norms of colleges.

TANCET 2025 Reservation Criteria

According to the TANCET 2025 reservation policy, out of the total number of seats in the TANCET participating colleges 2025, a certain percentage of seats will be reserved for candidates belonging to SC/ST/SCA categories. Roughly 69% of the total seats will be reserved for candidates belonging to SC/ST/SCA categories while the remaining 31% of seats will be available for the admission of open category students as well as candidates belonging to other India states.

Candidates applying for admission in any of the TANCET 2025 participating colleges against any of the above-mentioned quota should keep the following pointers in mind:

  • Only native Tamil Nadu candidates will be considered for communal reservations according to the rules and regulations laid down by the Government of Tamil Nadu

  • All the candidates seeking admission against the above-mentioned categories must attach a photocopy of the social status certificate issued by the concerned authority along with the application form

  • ST candidates must make sure that the community certificate which they need to produce must be issued by the Regional Division Officer only

  • Candidates in possession of a community certificate issued by a competent authority from other states will not be considered for communal reservation

  • It is mandatory for the candidates to obtain their community certificates from their respective districts

  • Those candidates will be considered for Open Category admission who will fail to produce the permanent community card certificate

Note: Most Backward Class, Backward Class (Minority) and Denotified Communities candidates who have migrated to other districts of Tamil Nadu must produce their community certificates issued by a competent authority of the migrated district. 

What After Fulfilling TANCET 2025 Eligibility Criteria?

Once candidates have gone through and fulfilled the eligibility criteria, they are required to fill out and submit the TANCET 2025 application form to get themselves registered for the entrance examination. They will have to fill in their personal, academic and contact details as a part of the application form filling process. Once the candidates successfully submit the application form, he/she will receive the admit card of TANCET 2025 in online mode displaying all the details related to the examination.

Is the TANCET exam only for the Tamil Nadu students?

Candidates belonging to states apart from Tamil Nadu can also appear for the TANCET exam but they must fulfill the eligibility criteria prescribed by the college/university authorities.

Aspirants in the final year of their degree programme or those awaiting the results of their bachelor's degree exams are also eligible to appear for TANCET. Candidates will be required to submit their degree course pass certificate during the verification round of the admission process.

Who is eligible for the TANCET exam?

Candidates who have completed 10+2 and 3 years of graduation are eligible to apply for TANCET. Candidates in the final year of bachelor's degree programme or those awaiting the results of their bachelor's degree exams can also participate in TANCET 2025.
