IIT Bombay has restricted the number of attempts a candidate can give for the UCEED examination. The total number of attempts that a student can take with regard to the UCEED examination is two times, and that too in consecutive years. Also, please note that the UCEED score is valid for one year and only for admissions in the same corresponding academic year.
The eligibility criteria for the UCEED examination require a candidate to have completed their Class 12th from any stream from a recognized board in 2024 or 2025. Students from all streams, Science, Arts, and Commerce, are eligible to sit for this examination. As for the age limit, the candidate should have been born on or after October 1, 2000, if belonging to the OPEN/EWS/OBC-NCL category and born on or after October 1, 1995, if belonging to the SC, ST or PwD category.
The total marks of the UCEED examination are 300 marks. Out of 300, if a candidate can attain a score ranging between 115 and 125, then the candidate is on the safe side. However, a good score in the UCEED examination varies from year to year and is subject to influence by several factors like, the number of candidates appearing for the examination in that particular year, the cutoff marks and ranks released by the official website handle of IIT Bombay, and the difficulty level of the UCEED exam in that particular year.
There is no one way to determine whether one examination is tougher than the other, the student must only appear for the examination they are genuinely interested in. Both the exams are quite competitive and would require a student to work hard and prepare well. Both the examinations, UCEED as well as the JEE examination, cater to different subject matters. The UCEED examination judges a student’s creativity, knowledge and aptitude for design, whereas the JEE examination tests a student based on their logical and scientific skills.
The UCEED examination is divided into 2 sections wherein the weightage of Part A is 200 marks and the weightage for Part B is 100 marks. Under Part B of the UCEED examination, students are required to answer 2 compulsory questions of 50 marks each. The UCEED Part B includes topics like Drawing and Design Aptitude. There is no negative marking in this section of the examination.
