  • The Mathematics subject was length & time consuming
  • The Chemistry section was easy to moderate with maximum weightage on topics such as Salt Analysis, Biomolecule and Chemical Equlibrium. Candidates attempted 20 questions on an average
  • The Physics section was of moderate level of difficulty with no questions asked from Rotation. 2 questions were asked from Assertion & Reason
  • 7-8 questions were asked from the Organic Chemistry section
  • Questions from Chemistry section were more theoritical

  • As per the JEE Main 2024 April 5 shift 1 exam, the paper was of the moderate level of difficulty
  • As compared to the January 27 Shift 1 exam, today's shift 1 was comparatively difficult
  • The overall Chemistry section had easy to moderate level of difficulty with 20 to 22 being the expected number of good attempts 
  • From the Chemistry section, questions on projectile was asked and mainly Organic Chemistry dominated this section. The questions were mainly asked from the NCERT syllabus
  • 1 question from Mole Concept, Biomolecule, Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetic, Borax Bid were asked in the exam
  • As compared to April 4 shift 1 exam Physics section was bit tricky in nature and 50 to 60 minutes was taken by students to solve the questions from this section
  • Fewer questions comprised from the Physical Chemistry topic and most of them were numerical based
  • Majority of the students answered 20 questions from the Chemistry section
  • The Physis section had the an overall moderate level of difficulty with 18 to 20 being the expected number of good attempts
  • From the Physics section, 5 to 6 questions were asked from Modern Physics. Questions from Gravitation, 2 to 3 questions from Kinetic Energy and Semiconductor were also asked. No questions on GOC was asked 
  • The questions from kinetic energy and semi conductor were time taking

  • On a whole, the Day 2 Shift 2 paper was of Moderate level of difficulty
  • The chemistry section was little difficult in comparison to earlier shifts. But some candidates found Chemistry esy with more questions asked from the part of Organic chemistry
  • Mathematics section was lengthy and time-consuming with 8 to 10 doable questions 
  • The Physics section was of moderate level of difficulty
  • Session 2 Day 2 Shift 1 exam was easier than the January session.
  • Candidates found Mathematics questions very calculative and almost took 80 to 90 minutes to solve
  • Less questions were asked from Physical Chemistry. and questions from coordinate geometry were asked
  • Questions from NCERT class 11 syllabus were more in comparison to class 12

  • As per the candidates, today's shift 1 exam was of the moderate level of difficulty
  • Questions were well balanced from Class 11 and 12 NCERT books
  • Mathematics section like the other shifts of the exam was lengthy in nature. Furthermore, questions were more of the difficult side and 7 to 8 questions were doable. The expected number of good attempts from the mathematics section is 12 to 13
  • Questions from Coordinate Geometry and Vector 3D had good amount of weightage. Moreover, questions from circles were quite tricky according to the candidates
  • Questions were also asked from topics like calculus, differential equation, algebra permutation and combination
  • Chemistry section as per the candidates had moderate level of difficulty or it can be said that Chemistry was bit difficult as compared to other shifts and questions were mostly asked from Class 11 NCERT texts. The expected number of good attempts from chemistry section is 18 to 20
  • Majority of the questions from the chemistry section was from Organic Chemistry
  • Questions were also asked from chemical bonding, periodic table, thermodynamics, atomic structure, alcohol, ethers and phenol was asked

  • Today's shift 1 exam had moderate level of difficulty and as per the initial assessment of the students JEE Main 2024 January session was easier compared to the April session
  • Overall weightage of class 12 NCERT was more than that of Class 11
  • Majority of the questions from the Physics section was asked from Optics and in total this section was quite easy with majority of the questions being formula based
  • Overall the major topics from the Physics section was based on Class 11 NCERT 
  • The expected number of good attempts in the Physics section for the candidates is 22 to 24 questions
  • Overall the chemistry section had a difficulty level of easy to moderate
  • The Chemistry questions were tricky in nature and majorly asked from NCERTs. Moreover, no multiple sentence questions were asked from this section
  • 10 to 12 questions were asked from Inorganic Chemistry, 2 to 3 questions from Physical Chemistry and 2 to 3 questions from Periodic Table
  • Questions from coordination compounds were also asked in the exam
  • Mostly questions from organic chemistry was theoretical based

  • Day 4 shift 2 paper was of Moderate level of difficulty.
  • The Chemistry section was easy and some questions were repeated from previous years. Questions based on mixed concept were asked.
  • The Mathematics section was lengthy and difficult but overall questions were doable.
  • The Physics section was tough in comparison to earlier shifts of the April session.
  • There was uniformity of weightage in Mathematics. Vector 3D & Coordinate geometry dominated the Mathematics section.
  • 1 to 2 questions were asked from calculus.
  • NCERT standard 12th weightage was slightly more than Class 11th weightage.
  • Organic Chemistry weightage was more in comparison to Inorganic and Physical Chemistry.
April 9, 2024 (Shift 1)
  • Shift 1 of April 9 JEE Main exam was overall of the moderate level
  • Overall the NAT question of today's shift 1 was moderate in nature
  • The Chemistry and Physics section of the exam was comparatively easy but tricky in nature
  • Few of the questions of today's shift 1 was asked from the previous year questions
  • Both the Physics and Chemistry section was overall of the easy to moderate level
  • From the chemistry section there were more theoretical based questions. Few questions around 4 to 5 were also numerical based
  • The expected number of good attempts from the Chemistry section is 22 to 23
  • More weightage of questions from Inorganic Chemistry was asked rather than Organic Chemistry
  • Questions from mole concept, bonding, atomic structure, periodic table, coordination compounds, salt and biomolecules were asked in the exam
  • The physics section questions were based from Class 11 NCERT texts
  • The questions from the physics section were formula based and it was doable. Moreover, few questions from this section were logical and bit time taking in nature
  • The expected number of good attempts from the Physics section is 17 to 18

  • In physics, more applied questions were asked rather than direct formula-based questions. The majority of the questions came from Modern Physics
  • Mathematics was difficult and lengthy
  • Students attempted 13 to 14 questions in Mathematics on an average

  • According to the student's reaction in the Chemistry section, the inorganic chemistry received the most weightage on shift 2, followed by organic and physical chemistry. Furthermore, physical and organic chemistry received equal weight in the NAT section, compared to physical chemistry dominance in previous articles.
  • Applicants find the questions in the Mathematics easy and not lengthy. However, some of the Mathematics questions were tough. 
  • There are many questions in JEE Main January 27 shift 2 asked from the previous year's papers.

  • Questions asked from Vectors and 3D Point of Intersection were tough and time-taking according to students

  • The overall difficulty level of the JEE Main 29th Jan 2024 shift 2 was moderate.

  • As per the student’s reaction questions in the Chemistry section were easy. 

  • In the Chemistry section questions from topics like Organic Chemistry, Atoms, Periodic, Mole, Physical Chemistry, etc were asked. Many numerical-based questions were asked from the Physical Chemistry part.

  • Students found the Physics section easy in shift 2. There were 20 to 22 good attempt questions in the Physics section.

  • Topics like magnetism, rotation, heat, kinematics, Logic Gate, etc carried a good amount of weightage in the Physics section. 

  • Students find the Mathematics section difficult to solve. There were many lengthy questions asked in the Maths section. 

  • However, compared to shift 1, the shift 2 Mathematics section was easy.

January 30, 2024 (Shift 1)
  • Based on the initial reactions of students, the difficulty level of JEE Mains 2024 Shift 1 was 'moderate'

  • The Chemistry section was the easiest of the three, like on previous days; the questions asked were mostly direct questions

  • Nearly 90% weightage was given to Organic Chemistry; most of the questions were asked from NCERT 12th syllabus rather than 11th grade curriculum

  • Fewer questions were asked from Physical Chemistry

  • The Physics section was of moderate level; around 15-16 questions were doable

  • Questions asked from Physics were mostly formula-based; the majority of the topics were asked from Kinematics, Current Electricity, Electrostatics, and Earth Magnetism (deleted from syllabus)

  • The overall good attempts for Physics are expected to be 21-22

  • The Mathematics section was moderate to difficult; as per students, Day 3 Shift 1 paper was relatively tougher than the previous days

  • The questions asked in Maths were a bit tricky and calculative, which took a lot of time; 1-2 questions were asked from the deleted syllabus

  • Questions on Integration were asked

  • Only 8-10 questions in Maths were doable

  • Overall, students could attempt 45-50 questions on average.

  • As per the student’s reaction, the difficulty level of JEE Mains 2024 shift 2 paper was moderate in the JEE Main 30th Jan 2024 shift 2.
  • Questions in the Physics section were moderate to difficult. Physics questions were similar to those of the previous session 1 exam shifts. Around 17 to 18 questions were a good attempt. 
  • The chemistry section was easy. Many questions were asked about organic chemistry compared to inorganic chemistry. Fewer questions were asked from Physical Chemistry. 
  • From 2023, Students found the Mathematic section to be simple. Compared to Physics and Chemistry, Mathematic questions were lengthy to solve. There were 13 to 15 good attempt questions in the Mathematics section. 
  • In the Mathematics section, questions from topics like Areas, Vector, 3D Geometry, Limits, Statistics, Calculus and Algebra, etc were asked. 
  • 4 questions were asked from Vector 3D. As per our analysis, questions from Vector 3d have been asked in all the session 1 shifts till yet. 
  • Some questions were asked from the JEE Main previous year question paper also.
  • Topics like Thermodynamics, Mole Concept, Chemical Kinetics, Ionic Equilibrium, d and f block elements, etc carried a good amount of weightage in the Chemistry section. 
JEE Main January 30 Memory Based Question Paper (Shift 2)
January 31, 2024 (Shift 1)
  • The overall difficulty level of JEE Mains 2024 Shift 1 exam was 'moderate'

  • The Mathematics section was moderately difficult and time-consuming as compared to the other sections

  • About 3-4 questions in Maths were easily doable

  • 2 questions were asked from Differential Equations, of which one was easy and the other was a bit calculative.

  • A few questions were asked from AP & GP, which was not included in the deleted syllabus.

  • Nearly 2-3 questions were asked from 3D Geometry and Vectors. Questions were also seen from Ellipse, Straight Lines and Circle, Integration, Matrices and Determinants etc. 

  • The Chemistry part was overall easy in comparison to Maths and Physics 

  • Questions were asked from Organic and Inorganic Chemistry; most of the questions were based on NCERT books, which candidates are familiar with.

  • In Chemistry, 1 question was asked from Mole Concepts. Others included topics, such as f and d block elements, Coordination Compounds, Purification etc.

  • Overall, expected good attempts are 20-21.

  • The Physics portion in Shift 1 was of moderate level. Students could attempt approximately 18-19 questions.

  • The topics mainly covered in Physics included Ray Optics, Circular Motion, Rotation, Nuclear Physics, Modern Physics, Mechanics etc. 

  • On average, time taken to solve Physics questions was 40-50 minutes

  • As per the student's reaction, the JEE Main 31 January Shift 2 paper was moderate to difficult.
  • Students find the Mathematic section to be challenging. In addition, the Mathematics questions were time-consuming.

  • As per applicants' feedback, only 10 to 12 questions were good attempts in the Mathematics section. 

  • The chemistry section was easy to solve. Questions from Physical Chemistry were more compared to the Inorganic Chemistry. Several questions were asked from Kinematics and Electrostatics. 

  • Applicants find Physics questions to be moderate. 18 to 19 questions were a good attempt in the Physics section.

  • Many questions were there from the JEE Main previous year question papers. 

  • There were 3 to 4 questions on Gravitation in the Physics section. Topics like Rotation, Magnetism, Mechanics, and electrostatistics, carried a good amount of weightage in Physics. 

  • In shift 2, NAT questions were moderate to difficult. 

  • Around 45 to 46 questions were a good attempt in the overall JEE Main 31 Jan 2024 shift 2 paper.

  • The overall difficulty level of JEE Mains 2024 Shift 1 exam was 'easy to moderate'

  • As per the students, the exam paper was overall balanced on Day 5.

  • The Chemistry section was very easy and had questions mostly based on theoretical concepts

  • Organic Chemistry was given higher weightage in comparison to Inorganic Chemistry

  • About 4-5 questions were asked from Assertion and Reasoning in the Chemistry paper

  • Like previous days, the majority of the questions were NCERT-based; direct questions in Chemistry were asked from CBSE syllabus

  • In Physics, formula-based questions were asked; this section, too, was easy to solve according to the students.

  • 2 questions in Physics were asked from the chapter on Capacitor; no questions were seen from Rotation.

  • The Mathematics portion was moderately difficult; students found the questions to be lengthy.

  • About 6-7 questions in Maths, particularly those from Calculus, were tricky and time-consuming.

  • Nearly 2-3 questions were asked from Vector and 3D Geometry

  • Students with a strong grip and good calculation skills were able to solve about 8-10 questions 

  • Overall, the attempts in Maths paper on the last day of the exam was less than the previous shifts and years.

  • Overall, the number of students appearing for the exam on the last day was notably less.

  • The mathematics section was difficult to solve. There were complex questions that were time-consuming. Around 3 questions were asked from Vector 3d. 

  • Topics like Calculus, Vector 3-D, Distance, Conic Section, Determinants, etc carried good weightage in the Mathematics section

  • Applicants find Organic Chemistry questions easy to solve.

  • Overall 47 to 51 questions were good to attempt in the JEE Main February 1 shift 2 paper. 

  • Applicants find Physics questions easy to moderate. Mechanic questions in Physics were Numericals. Topics like the Law of Motion, Mechanics, Gravitation, Semi Conductors, Unit Dimensions, etc carried high weightage in the Physics section. 

  • In the Physics section 21 to 23 questions were easy to attempt.

  • Chemistry had 22 to 24 questions which were easy to attempt. 

  • As the mathematical section was tough, students found only 10 to 11 good attempt questions in it.

April 13, 2023 (Shift 2)

The JEE Main session 2 difficulty level for April 13, 2023 was moderate. Students found the Physics section easy compared to the other two sections. Questions in the Physics section were NCERT and direct formulae based. As per the student's reactions and expert reviews, the Chemistry section was moderate and had questions from organic and inorganic chemistry. Students found the Mathematic section time-consuming and had questions about topics like vectors, calculus, integration, etc. In April 13 session 2, many questions were asked from the Class 11 syllabus.

April 13, 2023 (Shift 1)

The JEE Main session 2 difficulty level of April 13 shift 1 exam was considered to be of easy to moderate level of difficulty. Mathematics section was considered to be moderately difficult compared to Physics and Chemistry. The difficulty level of JEE Main April 13 shift 1 is similar to that of the previous sessions. Organic Chemistry had more weightage in the Chemistry section. JEE Main Shift 1 Analysis 13 April 2023
April 12 (Shift 2)As per the students' reaction, the Mathematics section was moderate to difficult and had questions from topics like Mathematical Reasoning, Determinants, Matrices, P&C, and Limits. etc. In the Aptitude Section, the weightage of logical reasoning and quantitative aptitude was more than conventional questions. April 12 (Shift 1)

The JEE Main session 2 difficulty level of April 12 shift 1 was considered to be moderate. Physics section had formula based questions. Chemistry section was completely NCERT based and the questions were direct. Three questions were asked from Communication system in Physics section. Organic and Inorganic chemistry had equal weightage in the paper and NAT section of chemistry contained questions from Physical chemistry. Mathematics section was considered to be lengthy but not entirely difficult (Similar to previous sessions difficulty level).

April 11 (Shift 2)


The JEE Main session 2 difficulty level  of April 11, 2023 shift 2 paper was moderate. As per the students' reaction and the expert's review, the Physics section was easy to moderate and direct formulae-based questions from topics like atomic structure, ray optics, kinematics (2 questions), unit dimension, etc. Students found the difficulty level of the Chemistry section moderate where Inorganic chemistry had higher weightage than organic and physical chemistry. In the Chemistry section questions were asked about topics like metallurgy, coordination compound, chemical bounding, etc. The mathematics section was moderate but lengthy to solve and had questions from topics like mathematical reasoning, statistics, calculus, etc.

JEE Main Analysis 11 April 2023 Shift 2
April 11 (Shift 1)

The overall difficulty level of the paper was considered to be moderate. Candidates found Physics to be the easiest section of the paper. Mathematics was found to be lengthy but not difficult. Chemistry section was moderate level of difficulty. In Chemistry, there were more questions from organic and inorganic chemistry. There were 8-9 questions from organic chemistry. In physics there was a equal balance of formula based and conceptual based questions (as per the first reaction). Questions in JEE Main today's paper were more based from Class 12 topics

JEE Main Shift 1 Analysis 11 April 2023
April 10 (Shift 2)

Students found the JEE Main 2023 April 10 session 2 paper moderate.  The questions in the Chemistry section were easy to moderate and had several NCERT-based questions. Per the expert's and students' reactions, the Chemistry section was easier than Physics and Mathematics. The overall difficulty level of the Physics section was moderate and included several theory-based questions from topics like Young’s modulus, unit dimension, vernier caliper, etc. Students found the Mathematics section questions to be moderate to difficult. However, the session 1 paper of Mathematics was easy compared to session 1. The 10th April shift 2 question paper was easier than the session 1 paper per the student's review.

April 10 (Shift 1)Students who gave the JEE Main 2023 April 10 shift 1 found the exam to be of easy to moderate level of difficulty. Physics section was completely theory based and Chemistry section had NCERT based questions. Mathematics section was moderate level of difficulty but lengthy. In chemistry there were more questions from inorganic chemistry. The overall difficulty level of the shift 2 paper was moderate. The shift 2 paper was considered to be more challenging than today's shift 1. Students found Physics and Mathematics sections were slightly more challenging than the shift 1 tests. Questions in the chemistry section were found easy by the students. Meanwhile, students found the mathematics section the toughest. The chemistry section had 6-7 direct theory-based questions. 4 to 5 questions in Physics were direct formula-based and graded as simple.

Overall difficulty of the paper was considered to be easy to difficult. Mathematics was overall more difficult compared to Physics and Chemistry. JEE Main January 2020 Exam Analysis & Difficulty Level

JEE Main (January) 2020 exam was conducted from January 06 to 09, 2020. JEE Main January 2020 had commenced on January 06, 2020, for the candidates who opted for B.Arch, B.Planning and B.Tech. Candidates can check the detailed analysis of all shifts of JEE Main Jan 2020 exam here. The overall analysis of JEE Main January 2020 can be regarded as Moderate to Difficult. 

Highlights of JEE Main 2019 Paper-1 & 2 (January session)

The first shift of JEE Main 2019 exam for Paper - I concluded at 12:30 pm. The exam was conducted in a computer-based test by the National Testing Agency (NTA). From the initial reactions that we've received from students, the JEE Main Question Paper 2019 was on the tough side, with the Mathematics section being the most difficult one. The paper was tougher than last year's examination, according to test takers who prepared for the examination with the help of JEE Main Previous Years Question Papers. In fact, some questions were taken as is from JEE Main Previous Year Papers. The students who appeared for the examination also mentioned that questions asked in the Chemistry section were directly from CBSE Class 11 and 12 NCERT books. The forenoon shift on January 9, 2019, was from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM for Paper I, which is taken by B.E/B.Tech aspirants. A total of 9,29,198 candidates apparently registered for Paper-I. When it comes to Paper 2 ,  a total of 82 questions (Mathematics-30, Aptitude-50 and Drawing 2) were asked. In the Mathematics and Aptitude section, candidates had to answer objective type questions whereas candidates' drawing and sketching skills were tested in the Drawing section. A total of 390 marks were allocated to the JEE Main question paper.

JEE Main 2018 Exam Analysis

The JEE Main online exam 2018 concluded on 16th April, 2018, and most of the candidates who appeared for the test said the difficulty level of the paper was average. In fact, some students mentioned that they struggled to complete their paper. One of the students who took the examination on Day 2 said the Mathematics portion was lengthy with a few tricky questions. Another student found the Chemistry section to be tough especially the questions from organic chemistry. Physics, on the other hand, had a moderate difficulty level. Students who appeared for the JEE Main online Paper 1 on 15th April, 2018 gave a mixed response while talking about the difficulty level of the examination. The computer-based examination was held in 258 cities at different centres across India and abroad. Overall, the students found the paper to be of moderate difficulty level. They also mentioned that Mathematics section was quite tricky and time-consuming. Apparently, the section on Mathematics had a lot descriptive questions.

JEE Main 2017 Exam Analysis

JEE Main 2017 was conducted on April 2 in offline mode for two slots – Paper I and Paper II. Paper I was conducted from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm for B.E/B.Tech courses while Paper II was held from 2 pm to 5 pm for B.Arch/B.Planning programmes. A total of 90 questions were asked in the JEE Main 2017 paper. The paper was divided into Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics into three parts with 30 questions in each part. Each question carried 4 marks. For every incorrect answer, there was a negative marking 1/4 marks of total marks. On the other, there was no penalty for leaving a question unanswered. In 2017, 11,98,989 engineering aspirants had registered for the exam. Each subject carried 30 questions with 120 marks allocated every section. It means students had a maximum of 360 marks to score. As far as the analysis of JEE Main 2017 is concerned, the paper turned out to be quite similar in pattern to JEE Main 2016, Overall, the paper was easier in comparison with the JEE Main conducted in 2016.
