Candidates from all the states are eligible to appear for MH SET 2025. However, the state government reservation policies are applicable to the candidates belonging to Maharashtra and Goa. MH SET 2025 Age Limit/Criteria

Aspirants of MH SET 2025 must note that there is no specific upper age limit for the eligibility test, and he/she must satisfy all the eligibility conditions mentioned on this page.

MH SET 2025 Domicile Rules

The domicile rules of MH-SET 2025 can be checked below:

  • Candidates from all the states in India are eligible to appear for MH-SET 2025.
  • Aspirants from Goa should also appear for MH-SET as Goa does not conduct a separate eligibility test to determine the eligibility of candidates for the post of Assistant Professor.
  • Candidates belonging to other states (other than Maharashtra and Goa) shall be treated under Open Category even though he/she/they may belong to a reserved category.
  • All the reservation policies are applicable to Maharashtra and Goa domicile applicants.

Education Qualification Required for MH SET 2025

Candidates applying for MH SET 2025 must have passed a Masterโ€™s degree with a minimum of 55% of marks (50% for General Categories). Candidates pursuing final-year Masterโ€™s degree courses are also eligible to register for MH SET 2025. 

  • The candidates must hold a masterโ€™s degree recognized by U.G.C.
  • With a Post Graduate diploma/certificate awarded by Indian University/Institute or a Foreign degree/diploma/certificate awarded by the Foreign University/Institute should ascertain the equivalence of Indian universitiesโ€™ diploma/degree/certificate.
  • The candidates other than SC/ST/OBC/SBC/DT(VJ)/NT/Transgender/PwD/Orphans, with at least 55% marks in Masterโ€™s or equivalent examination, are eligible for MH SET 2025.
  • The OBC/ SBC/DT(VJ)/NT [belonging to non-creamy layer] and SC/ST//Trans-genders/PwD/Orphans with at least 50% marks in Masterโ€™s or equivalent Examination can appear for MH SET 2025. The 
  • SC/ST/OBC/ DT (A)(VJ)/ NT (B,C,D)/ SBC candidates including PwD & Orphans, must ensure that they have a valid category certificate from the Govt. of Maharashtra & Goa.
  • The candidates pursuing the first year of Masterโ€™s degree or studying in the fourth year of Five year Integrated Masters Course cannot appear for MH SET 2025.
  • Candidates can choose subjects for SET in which they hold Post-Graduation. There can be various subjects including Commerce, Environmental Science, M.Sc. Env. Sci., Life Science, M.Sc. Life Science/Botany/Zoology/Microbiology/ Biotechnology etc., Home Science : M.Sc., M.A. Home Science. If the subject studied in postgraduation is not included in the list of SET subjects, candidates can appear for SET in a related or equivalent subject.
  • As per the U.G.C. rules the candidates who have passed M.Sc. (by PPPR/Research) cannot appear for the SET.
  • A qualified SET candidate cannot re-appear for SET in the same subject. The candidates violating this rule will not be issued a certificate.

Exemption from MH SET 2025

The following are the exemption rules for MH SET 2025:

  • Candidates who have already cleared MH SET earlier are exempted from the 2025 eligibility test.
  • Candidates who have been awarded Ph.D. as per the UGC Regulations 2009 are exempted from MH-SET.
  • Candidates who have cleared SET prior to June 01, 2002, are exempted.
