• IIT JAM 2025 will be conducted for 7 papers. The seven subjects for which IIT JAM 2025 merit list will be prepared include Physics, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Biotechnology, Mathematics Statistics, and Economics
• The number of candidates shortlisted in the IIT JAM merit list 2025 will further depend on the number of seats that are available in each category- OBC-NCL, EWS, SC, ST, and PwD in each subject

What after IIT JAM 2025 Merit List?

Once the IIT JAM merit list 2025 will be published, the candidates are expected to follow the below-mentioned steps to take admission in different IITs and IISc in their choice of course and colleges through IIT JAM 2025.

• The candidates who qualify IIT JAM 2025 exam as per the declared merit list are required to fill the admission form online that will be made available on the JOAPS portal. This is regardless of the specific institutes that candidates are applying for.
• Candidates before filling out the admission form must ensure that they have referred to the list of admitting institutes and departments.
• The candidates can apply for more than one academic program which will be based on the test papers qualified by the candidates and also meeting the eligibility criteria of the institutions.
• Candidates after log in to the JOAPS portal will have to enter all the essential information that is required along with their educational qualifications. They will also have to submit a processing fee of INR 600.
• Depending on the availability of the seats, the admission list of first, second, and third round is prepared. The fourth list will be the final admission list for all the vacant seats for IIT JAM 2025.
• The candidates will have to submit an acceptance form and advanced seat booking of INR 10000 for general category candidates and INR 5000 for SC/ST/PwD candidates.

What is the Difficulty level of IIT JAM?

The level of difficulty for IIT JAM is usually high because of increasing demand for the limited seats that are available through IIT JAM 2025. There has been a constant rise in the number of candidates who appear in IIT JAM. As per the recent trends, around 63,000 candidates are expected to appear in IIT JAM 2025. One can refer to the details related to IIT JAM seats as mentioned below:

• Around 3000 seats will be offered in IIT JAM 2025. The number of candidates taking exam also expected to increase. 
• In IIT JAM 2022, the total number of candidates who appeared for the chemistry paper was 14473. The total seats available were only 1223, hence making the selection ratio of 8.45%.
• 42 seats have been reduced this year as compared to last year despite the increase in number of candidates every year for IIT JAM. In 2021, the total number of seats offered was 2884 while the total number of seats offered in IIT JAM 2023 was 2802.
• As per experts and previous year’s analysis, the level of difficulty for Physics, Biotechnology, and Mathematical statistics was moderate. 
• Chemistry, Economics, Mathematics, and Geology conducted in Slot 2, also had a moderate difficulty level. However, many students found it difficult compared to previous years.
