About SEED 2025

Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID) has announced that the application forms for SEED 2025 are now open from August 16, 2024. The direct link can be found on the SEED 2025 application form exam page. The deadline is December 25, 2024; so, make sure to submit applications in time. The SEED 2025 is scheduled to be conducted on January 12, 2025. This will be a remotely proctored one-hour online test with 60 questions. The scores attained through this exam will help SID in shortlisting the candidates for the subsequent steps, which will comprise a Portfolio Review followed by a Personal Interaction. The final SEED 2025 merit list will consist of the performance of the candidate in the written exam, portfolio review, PRPI task, and personal interaction. What is SEED?

The Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design, or SEED, is a design aptitude test for admissions to the BDes programs offered at different campuses of Symbiosis. It is conducted by the Symbiosis Institute of Design. Students should note that from 2019, admission to the BDes courses offered at Symbiosis School of Planning, Architecture and Design, Nagpur is based on the SEED exam. SEED was earlier known as SET for Design. The SEED admission test assesses candidates based on various skill parameters like colour, visual observations, geometry, general design awareness, creative thinking ability, and likes of awareness of Indian culture, craft, traditions, etc.

SEED 2025 Application Form

The application window for SEED 2025 is now open. The eligible candidates can fill up the forms from August 16 to December 25, 2024. This application form shall serve as a gateway to admission in the B.Des Programme in participating colleges. Given below is the step-by-step guide for ease of application:

Steps to Complete Your SEED 2025 Application:

  • Register Yourself: Most of the things asked for in this section are your email address and Mobile No. After registration, an applicant account will be created.
  • Fill-up the Form: Here, the candidate needs to fill in his personal, academic, and contact details. Also, remember to choose your Test Center preference.
  • Pay the Fee: Fill all sections correctly, and then one can proceed to pay an examination fee of INR 3,250. One may make the online payment through net banking or by credit/debit card.
  • Submit Your Application: Carefully go through all details; once all is well, one can submit an application.

SEED 2025 Eligibility Criteria

A candidate will have to be eligible as per the criteria set for SEED 2025 so that he becomes qualified to take admission in B.Des at Symbiosis Institute of Design. The SEED 2025 eligibility criteria should be fulfilled by the candidates since non-compliance in either case will get their candidature cancelled at any stage of the admission process.

Educational Background

  • The candidate would have passed any Class 12 or equivalent examination in any stream, that is Science, Commerce, Arts, etc.
  • Otherwise, candidates may have passed a 10+3 diploma (any stream) recognized by the State Board of Technical Education with an aggregate of at least 50% marks (or 45% marks for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes or Scheduled Tribes).

Candidates Appearing in Final Examinations

  • Candidates appearing in the final examination of 10+2 or 10+3 diploma programmes are also eligible, provided that the results of such examinations are declared before June of the admission year. 

Provisional Admission Clause

  • Candidates whose compartmental result is declared in the same year as the Class 12 examinations and clear that exam in the first attempt are eligible for provisional admission at SID.

SEED 2025 Admit Card

SEED 2025 admit card for the written exam will be soon made available from January 2, 2025, till January 12, 2025, by the Symbiosis Institute of Design. It shall also bear all other vital information concerning the applicant, such as the candidate's name, roll number, date and time of the examination for SEED 2025, and other very important instructions concerning the examination: since the nature of the SEED 2025 exam is remote-proctored, there shall not be information on an exam centre on the admit card.

The admit card for PRPI is going to be issued separately, and it will include only the shortlisted candidates.

SEED 2025 Syllabus

The SEED 2025 entrance exam will last 60 minutes and will consist of 60 multiple-choice questions. Each question will be worth one point. The exam will be administered offline at various examination centres across India. The following is the SEED 2025 entrance test syllabus:

  • Visualization: You will be tested on your ability to visualise basic and complicated 2D and 3D geometric shapes in this part. You will be asked to identify forms, their qualities, and how they relate to one another.
  • Application of Basic Knowledge of Science and Mathematics: This part will assess your understanding of fundamental scientific and mathematics topics such as geometry, trigonometry, and physics. These notions will be used to address difficulties.
  • Observational, Perceptual, and Reasoning Abilities: This part will assess your ability to observe, perceive, and reason. You will be required to recognise patterns, draw conclusions, and solve issues.
  • Creative and Problem-Solving Abilities: This part will assess your ability to think creatively and solve difficulties. You will be asked to come up with ideas, solve problems, and explain your rationale.
  • Art, Craft, Culture, Design, and Environment: You will be tested on your knowledge of art, craft, culture, design, and the environment in this area. Different art forms, crafts, civilizations, and design components will be identified and described.

Note: The SEED 2025 syllabus is based on the 10+2 curriculum. The exam, on the other hand, is intended to assess students' aptitude for design education. As a result, the syllabus covers several topics not covered in the 10+2 curriculum.

SEED 2025 Exam Pattern

The SEED 2025 exam pattern will have 60 multiple-choice questions to be attempted in 60 minutes. The questions in the test will be of multiple-choice, matching, fill-in-the-blank, image-based, and comprehension-based type. SEED 2025 will draw questions from a vast pool of subjects related to Visual Sensitivity and Judgment, Observational and Perceptual Skills, Reasoning, Problem-Solving Ability, Basic Scientific and Mathematical Logic, and knowledge of Art, Craft, Culture, Design, and Environment.

Passing the SEED 2025 exam is followed by a Portfolio Review and Personal Interaction (PRPI) Round before the declaration of results. The portfolio has to be created according to the institute's guidelines. One can opt to create a portfolio of his work in the form of sketches, mixed-media illustrations, and digital work. It can also consist of collages, 2D and 3D articles; photography and 3D creations in the form of sculptures, fabric products, gadgets, and art-inspired items. 

Note: The candidate has to upload his portfolio and complete PRPIT and Personal Interaction before appearing for the Personal Interaction round.

SEED 2025 Mock Test

Symbiosis Institute of Design has announced that it will carry out the SEED 2025 mock tests during January 2025, providing candidates with an opportunity to prepare ahead of the main exam. These mock tests are going to take place on January 9 and 10, 2025, mainly from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. These mock tests should be taken by all at all costs since they yield high benefits in improving performance during the actual entrance exam. Only those candidates who have successfully completed their online application process will then be eligible to take these mock tests, which turn out to be a very useful preparation tool.

SEED Results 2025

The SEED 2025 results will be declared tentatively on January 17, 2025, Friday, by the Symbiosis Institute of Design after the SEED 2025 exam on January 12, 2025. It will be available online through the admission portal of the institute.

Candidates will just have to log in using their registered ID and password to access their exam results.

Selection for PRPI Round

Only the candidates who qualify in the written test will be shortlisted for the next stage of the Portfolio Review and Personal Interaction PRPI round.

SEED 2025 Slot Booking

Being called for a personal interview is a key part of the admission process for SEED 2025. On being shortlisted after the SEED 2025 results and portfolio, you will need to select a date and time as per the slots available for the personal interaction or PI round. The Symbiosis Institute of Design will open the slot booking of PR-PI from January 21, 2025, till January 29, 2025. Only those who have cleared the SEED 2025 will be eligible for the SEED 2025 slot booking process for the Personal Interaction round.

SEED 2025 Admission Process

Admission to the Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID) B.Des programme will be done in the following order:

  • Apply for SEED 2025: Candidates who satisfy the qualifying requirements must complete the form before the deadline. The candidate must register, fill out all necessary information, upload documents, and pay the application fee as part of the application procedure.
  • Get the Admit Card: Candidates who have successfully registered can get their admit cards from the SID admission portal. On exam day, bring the admission card and a valid picture ID to the exam centre. The admission card will include information such as the candidate's roll number, the day and time of the test, and exam guidelines.
  • Attend the SEED 2025 Exam: The admission test will be held online, in a remote-proctored format, and will consist of objective-type questions. 
  • Shortlisting: Candidates will be shortlisted for the SEED, Portfolio Review, PRPI Task, and Personal Interaction rounds based on the results of the SEED written test. The candidate will be required to upload a portfolio and PRPI task, as part of the SEED 2025 selection process.
  • Result Announcement: The result-cum-final merit list will be generated by weighting the SEED, Portfolio Review, PRPI Task, and Personal Interaction rounds.  
  • Counselling and Seat Allotment: Seats will be assigned depending on the candidate's SEED 2025 merit rank. Candidates who have been assigned a seat must pay the seat acceptance fee and confirm their admittance. The allocation will be cancelled if payment is not made.
