About CEED Cutoff 2024

The CEED exam which was held on January 21, 2024 declared the results on March 6, 2024. The CEED Cutoff 2024 for the general category was calculated to be 50.26%. Furthermore, as per the official website of IIT Bombay, the mean and standard deviation for Part - A of the CEED Exam 2024 came out to be 41.90% and 16.72% respectively. The results and the cutoff for the CEED exam were made available on the official website of IIT Bombay in February-March 2024.

CEED exam, or the Common Entrance Examination for Design is pursued by students who wish to complete their postgraduate or doctoral degree in the field of technological design. This exam is conducted by IIT Bombay and is held across all IITs in India and the Indian Institute of Science is also one of the participating universities.

As per the qualifying marks, students will be shortlisted based on the following criteria:

CEED Cutoff 2024 Exam 

µ + (σ 2) = δ where µ and σ are the average marks and standard deviation of the distribution of marks obtained by all the candidates in CEED Part A exam. The µ and σ will be rounded off to two decimal places. 

The cutoff for OBC-NCL category candidates will be 0.9δ.

The cutoff SC, ST, and PWD categories will be 0.5δ.

What is the difference between UCEED and CEED?

The UCEED exam is for students who wish to take admission to undergraduate courses in design programmes, whereas the CEED exam is conducted for students who want to get admission to postgraduate or doctoral programmes in the design field.

How many seats are there in CEED?

For 2024, the total number of students who registered for the exam was 6037 and the number of students who appeared for the CEED Exam 2024 was 4910. As per official records, there are 8 participating institutes in the CEED examination and all these institutes have more than 302 seats for the MDes course.

Is there a negative marking in the CEED exam?

The question paper of CEED has 2 sections - Part A and Part B. Part A of the CEED exam includes NAT, MSQ, and MCQ questions and there is a negative marking for MCQ-type questions and M.Sc. Although, no negative marking is applicable for NAT-type questions.

How long does it take to prepare for the CEED exam?

If a student studies dedicatedly, then it would take no more than 6 months for them to prepare for the CEED exam. Also, if the fundamentals of a student are clear beforehand, then it might take even less time to cover the entire syllabus of the CEED exam.

Was CEED 2024 tough?
