Separate rankings will be assigned for each category in CEED. To understand more about the CEED 2025 result and rankings, refer to the details below:

  • Open Rank: Candidates scoring 38 or higher in Part A and a CEED score of at least 30 will receive the open rank.
  • EWS Rank: General category candidates in the EWS will be ranked accordingly. As there is no separate cutoff for EWS, they will also obtain an open rank.
  • SC/ST/OBC - NCL Rank: Candidates outside the general category will receive the SC/ST/OBC - NCL Rank based on their birth certificate. To validate this rank during admissions, candidates must present the necessary original documents. If they are unable to provide documentation, they will only be placed in the open category.
  • Open PwD Rank: PwD candidates meeting Part A marks and CEED score criteria of 19 and 15, respectively, will receive the Open PwD rank. The presentation of the required original documents during admission is essential for maintaining this rank. Otherwise, they will be placed in the open category if they don't use compensatory time.

Note: If compensatory time is used, a * will appear in the PwD category on the scorecard.

  • OBC-NCL PwD Rank: Qualified PwD candidates achieving Part A marks and CEED scores of 34.2 and 27, respectively, will get the OBC-NCL PwD rank. Necessary original documents must be submitted during admission for this rank to be valid. If documents are not provided,
    • OBC-NCL PwD candidates may be considered in the OBC-NCL category if they achieve the OBC-NCL rank without using compensatory time.
    • They are eligible for the Open PwD category if they hold the Open PwD rank but are not using compensatory time.
    • Consideration for the Open category is possible if they have an Open rank and do not use compensatory time.
    • The scorecard will display * if compensatory time was used by PwD candidates.
  • SC/ST PwD Rank: PwD candidates from the SC and ST categories will be ranked based on their birth category. The presentation of required documents during admission is necessary for the SC/ST PwD rank to be valid. If documents are not provided,
    • PwD candidates from SC/ST categories may be considered if they have an SC or ST rank without using compensatory time.
    • They are eligible for the Open PwD category if they hold the Open PwD rank and are not using compensatory time.
    • Consideration for the Open category is possible if they have an Open rank without using compensatory time.
    • The scorecard will display * if compensatory time was used by PwD candidates.

CEED Result Evaluation Criteria

A and B are the two sections of CEED. There are objective-type questions in Exam Part A. Questions in Part B put candidates' design, drawing, and writing skills to the test. Candidates are chosen from a shortlist based on their performance in part A of the exam. This indicates that only those applicants who have been chosen for further consideration based on their performance on Part A of the CEED exam are evaluated in Part B. According to the CEED website, part A will be used to shortlist approximately 10XN candidates for each category if "N" is the total number of seats available in that category across all participating institutes. However, this procedure is only followed if candidates pass Part A of the CEED exam with the minimum required marks or higher.

CEED Merit List and Ranks

The CEED 2025 merit list will be made public by IIT Bombay shortly after the results are declared. Only those applicants who would be called to appear for additional admissions rounds and CEED counselling make the merit list. See some of the key elements of the CEED merit list below:

  • All candidates who pass Part B of the exam are only placed on the merit list
  • The CEED merit list 2024 will be divided into two sections: the final drawing list as well as a waiting list
  • Applicants whose names appear on the final drawing list would be assigned seats via CEED counselling
  • Any remaining seats will be filled by waitlist candidates

Candidates are assigned ranks in various categories on the CEED scorecard and merit list. Examine the various categories of CEED ranks that are assigned to candidates:

  • Open Rank: Candidates who receive an open rank have a total CEED score and Part-A marks that are equal to or higher than the minimum qualifying marks
  • EWS Rank: Candidates for the General Category who are members of the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) of society are awarded this rank. As there is no completely separate cutoff for such candidates, they are also given Open ranks
  • SC/ST/OBC-NCL Rank:  Applicants who fall under the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Other Backward Class (OBC) categories receive the SC/ST/OBC-NCL rank. However, these candidates' ranks are only kept if they can present original certificates issued by the pertinent authority during the document verification process. Any candidate will only be considered under the Open category if the required document is not produced
  • Open PwD Rank: Candidates in the General category who are physically disabled may apply for this rank. However, just like with the SC/ST/OBC-NCL rank, candidates can only keep their Open Persons with Disability (PwD) rank if they can present the necessary paperwork when the paperwork is being verified
  • SC/ST/OBC-NCL PwD Rank: Candidates who fall under these categories and have a physical disability are eligible for this rank. Candidates will be admitted based on their SC/ST/OBC rank or Open rank, as appropriate, if they fail to present the necessary documentation during verification.
