GATE 2025 Syllabus for AR

GATE Architecture and Planning syllabus 2025 has been released by the organizing institute on its official website. The official link to download the GATE AR syllabus 2025 pdf can also be accessed from this page. The first step to prepare for the GATE 2025 exam is to understand the syllabus properly. Candidates planning to prepare for the exam, must check the GATE 2025 Architecture and Planning syllabus provided below. GATE syllabus 2025 for Architecture and Planning consists of topics from General Aptitude and core disciplines including architecture and planning.

The GATE exam for Architecture and Planning (AR) has a different marking scheme as compared to other GATE 2025 papers. It includes a General Aptitude section of 15 marks, which is common for all candidates. The exam also has a compulsory section, Part A, which everyone must complete, contributing 60 marks. During the exam, candidates can choose either Part B1 (Architecture) or Part B2 (Planning), which accounts for 25 marks. GATE AR Syllabus 2025 Section-Wise Topics

Section 4: Urban Design, Landscape and Conservation

Historical and modern examples of urban design; Elements of urban built environment – urban form, spaces, structure, pattern, fabric, texture, grain etc.; Concepts and theories of urban design; Principles, tools and techniques of urban design; Public spaces, character, spatial qualities and Sense of Place; Urban design interventions for sustainable development and transportation; Development controls – FAR, densities and building byelaws; Urban renewal and conservation; heritage conservation; historical public spaces and gardens; Landscape design; Site planning.
