IIT Roorkee has postponed the GATE registration 2025 from August 25, 2024, to August 28, 2024. All the other GATE 2025 dates are the same. GATE registration 2025 will be held from August 28 to September 26, 2024. The GATE exam 2025 will be held online on February 1, 2, 15 & 16, 2025.

About GATE 2025

GATE 2025 registrations have been postponed to August 28, 2024, as per the official website. GATE 2025 application form was scheduled to be released on August 24, 2024, in online mode at gate2025.iitr.ac.in. But, authorities have postponed it to August 28, 2024. All the other GATE registration 2025 dates remain the same. The last date to apply for the GATE exam 2025 without any late fees is September 26, 2024. The deadline to complete GATE 2025 registrations with paying late fees is October 7, 2024. Candidates who have completed or are in their last year of graduation in Engineering, Science, Business, Humanities, or Arts can take the GATE exam 2025. Applicants are advised to check the detailed eligibility criteria before filling out the GATE application form 2025. The deadline for changing of Category, Paper, and Examination City, adding a new test paper, and changing personal details is November 6, 2024. GATE information brochure 2025 has been released. IIT Roorkee is the conducting body of GATE 2025. The GATE 2025 exam will be held on February 1, 2, 15, and 16, 2025, as a Computer Based Test (CBT). IIT Roorkee will release the GATE admit card 2025 on January 2, 2025. GATE result 2025 will be released on March 19, 2025. The GATE scorecard 2025 will be available from March 28 to May 31, 2025. However, candidates can also download scorecards by paying a late fee of INR 500 per test paper between June 1 to December 31, 2025.

The GATE 2025 application fee is INR 1800 for Unreserved candidates and INR 900 for SC/ ST/ PwD/ Female candidates.  GATE exam pattern 2025 and GATE syllabus 2025 have been published for all 30 papers. The GATE exam 2025 will include 65 questions for a total of 100 marks. The GATE exam 2025 will include multiple choice (MCQ), multiple select (MSQ), and numerical answer type (NAT) questions. The GATE Papers are divided into three sections: General aptitude (GA), engineering mathematics (EM), and a specific subject chosen by the candidate. What is GATE?

GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) is a national-level examination, which is conducted for candidates seeking admission in Post Graduate Programmes (M.E., M.Tech, MS, Direct PhD) offered at institutes of national importance, including IITs and IISc, etc. with financial assistance from MHRD (Ministry of Human Resource Development). The GATE scores are also used by various PSUs (Public Sector Undertakings) to recruit candidates for prestigious jobs. A total of 30 papers are conducted as part of the GATE examination. Candidates can apply for only one of the papers based on the discipline of their qualifying degree or their admission plan. While applying for the paper of their choice, candidates must also keep in mind the eligibility criteria set by the institutions where they wish to get admission.

IIT Roorkee is the conducting body for the GATE 2025 exam. The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, and IIT Roorkee) jointly administer the conduct of GATE. The operations related to GATE in each of the eight zones are managed by a zonal GATE Office at the IITs or IISc. GATE 2025 Registration Form

GATE 2025 application form release has been postponed to August 28 from August 24, 2024. Candidates can check out the steps to fill out the GATE application form 2025 below.

Step 1: Register on the GOAPS 2025 site using a valid email address and mobile number, and create an Enrollment ID and Password.

Step 2: Log in to the GOAPS 2025 site with the Enrollment ID and Password you created during registration.

Step 3: Upload all required paperwork.

Step 4: Pay the GATE 2025 application fees.

Step 5: Preview and submit the application.

GATE 2025 Exam Fee

IIT Roorkee has specified the GATE 2025 exam fee to be paid by candidates during the registration process on its website. The application fee for GATE 2025 must be paid via online mode (Net banking/ Credit card/ Debit card) within the given period. For ST/ SC/ PwD/ Female candidates, the GATE exam fee 2025 is Rs. 900 while that for all other categories is Rs. 1800. Aspirants can check the GATE 2025 application fee below:

GATE 2025 Application Form Correction

After the reviewing all the applications, IIT Roorkee will open the GATE 2025 application form correction window at gate2025.iitr.ac.in to allow candidates to rectify or modify changes in case of any discrepancies found in the GATE registration form 2025. Details such as the Applicant's DOB, exam city preference, gender, category etc. can be modified using this facility. However, candidates will have to pay additional charges to get the corrections done. GATE 2025 application form correction can be done till November 6, 2024.

Furthermore, candidates residing abroad will have to travel to India if they wish to appear for the GATE exam 2025. There are no international GATE 2025 exam centres outside of the country.

GATE 2025 Syllabus

IIT Roorkee has issued the GATE 2025 syllabus for each paper. The GATE 2025 exam will be held for a total of 30 papers now. Candidates should go through the GATE syllabus 2025 of their respective papers and study thoroughly. The syllabus includes two sections - General Aptitude and Paper-specific. The GATE 2025 syllabus comprises a list of subjects from which questions will be asked in the entrance test.

The GATE question paper will feature 65 questions worth 100 marks, including 15 General Aptitude questions. The paper codes AR, CY, EY, GG, MA, PH, XH, and XL will have 15 marks for General Aptitude and the remaining 85 marks for the specific subject. All other paper codes, with the exception of AR, CY, EY, GG, MA, PH, XH, and XL, will have 15 marks for General Aptitude, 13 marks for Engineering Mathematics, and 72 marks for the topic.

The topic-wise weightage in GATE exam 2025 varies for different subject papers, such as CS, ECE, CE etc. The Engineering Mathematics and Core Discipline papers carry the maximum weightage i.e. 85% of the syllabus. How GATE Score is Calculated?

The GATE Score will be calculated based on the raw or actual marks obtained by a candidate after evaluating the answers. In the case of multi-session papers (subjects), the candidate's raw marks obtained in different sessions will be converted to Normalized marks for that specific paper. Therefore, the GATE Score will be computed using either raw marks (for single-session papers) or normalized marks (for multi-session papers), depending on the qualifying marks.

GATE 2025 Counselling

The counselling process for GATE 2025 will be held for qualified candidates. The GATE counselling 2025 is not centralized and is conducted by two official bodies: the Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) and the Centralised Counselling for MTech (CCMT). GATE COAP counselling is done for admission to M.Tech programs at IITs, whereas GATE CCMT counselling is held for admission to M.Tech programs in NITs, IIITs, GFTIs, and CFTIs. The GATE counselling 2025 includes various stages like registration, choice filling, document verification, seat allotment, fee payment, etc. The counselling process is held in various rounds. Following each round, the GATE counselling opening and closing ranks are announced. Candidates are offered admission to IITs, NITs, GFTIs, and IIITs based on their opening and closing ranks.

GATE COAP 2025 Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates must have a valid GATE score from the preceding three years to compete in the 2025 counselling round (2022/2023/2025).

  • Candidates must have a minimum of graduation marks, which vary based on the institution to which they apply.

GATE CCMT 2025 Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates must have a valid GATE score from the preceding three years to compete in the 2025 counselling round (2022/2023/2025).

  • A least 6.5 CGPA or 60% is necessary for graduation. SC/ST/PWD applicants must have at least a CGPA of 6 or 55% in their graduation.

GATE 2025 Cutoff

The exam conducting authority will release the GATE cutoff 2025 along with the results. GATE 2025 cutoff marks are issued separately for each of the 30 papers. GATE 2025 Selection Process

After the result announcement, candidates will have to apply to the GATE participating colleges 2025 as per the admission notification. To get selected for admission in the IITs, qualified candiidates must register for counselling through COAP (Common Offer Acceptance Portal). Selection for NITs admission will be through the CCMT (Centralized Counselling for M.Tech/M.Plan) process. To get selected in the PSUs, candidates willhave to pass the Personal Interview round. The final selection is done based on the candidate's GATE score and performance in the interview.
