GATE Counselling 2025

GATE counselling 2025 will likely begin in March 2025. Candidates who passed the GATE exam in 2025, 2024 and 2023 will be eligible to take part in the GATE counselling. The GATE 2025 counselling is done via CCMT or COAP. For IITs, a Centralized Online Admission Process (COAP) is conducted for admission in M.Tech and PSU recruitment. On the other hand, the online admission process for NIT, IIIT, and GFTI is called Centralized Counselling for M.Tech (CCMT). The GATE counselling process includes various stages like registration, choice filling, seat allotment, document verification, fee payment, reporting etc. During the GATE choice filling, candidates have to provide the name of their preferred courses and colleges they wish to get admission. Based on that, and other factors like seat availability, candidate's category, candidate's performance, etc the GATE seat allotment 2025 will be released.

Candidates who will be allotted seats have to make decision whether to freeze, float, or slide it. Applicants have to pay the fees and complete college reporting to confirm their admission to the allotted college. There will be various rounds of GATE counselling 2025. IIT Roorkee will be conducting the GATE exam on February 1, 2, 15 and 16, 2025. GATE scorecard will be available from March 28 to December 31, 2025. 

COAP Counselling 2025: The Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) is responsible for managing the admission process for MTech courses offered by IITs. 

CCMT Counselling 2025: Centralized Counselling for MTech (CCMT) is conducted for admission to MTech programs offered by NITs, IIITs, GFTIs, and CFTIs.

How to Register for GATE 2025 Counselling?

 The candidates will be required to follow the given steps to register for the GATE 2025 Counselling process.

Steps to Register for GATE COAP Counselling 2025 

Step 1: COAP 2025 Registration

Go to the COAP 2025 Application Portal. To start a new registration, click Register. For new registrations:

  • Enter information about the GATE Paper(s) and click Register Now.
  • You can add a row for more GATE papers.
  • Registering in COAP requires at least one GATE Paper registration number.
  • You may add additional GATE Papers after registering.

Step 2: COAP 2025 Login and Dashboard

  • After successfully registering, log in using your COAP ID and password.
  • Click Dashboard to access application details for all institutes and registered GATE paper(s) in COAP.

Step 3: Add more GATE papers, if applicable.

  • Candidates can add rows for further GATE papers by clicking Applicant Details under the login page.
  • You can also delete any more rows for GATE Papers.

Step 4: Final Submission

  • Go through the details provided and click on Final Submit.
  • Data cannot be changed once you click Final Submit.

Steps to Register for GATE CCMT Counselling2025 

Step 1: Visit the GATE counselling official website. 

Step 2: The candidates have to click on the ‘CCMT 2025: Online registration, Fee payment and Choice filling’ link in the Current Events section.

Step 3: For logging in, the candidates have to enter their GATE registration ID.

Step 4: The candidates then must fill all the text boxes with relevant details such as basic information, Institutes and courses.

Step 5: The candidates have to pay the registration fee online for completion of CCMT 2025 registration.

Candidates who wish to apply for M.Tech programmes into IIiTs, NITs, GFITs, and CFTIs will have to apply through CCMT (short for Centralized Counselling for M.Tech) and those who wish to apply for M.Tech programmes in IITs, will have to apply through COAP (short for Common Offer Acceptance Portal). State and private universities will also have their own counselling process based on GATE scores. 

Admissions into IISc Bangalore M.Tech Programme through GATE 2025

The admission procedure will be conducted on the basis of GATE scores. The choices of colleges and programmes have to submit by the applicants while filling out the application form. Applicants must meet all eligibility criteria before applying. 

Admissions into IITs in M.Tech Programme through GATE 2025

For M.Tech programmes in IITs, the candidates will have to register through the COAP (short for Common Offer Acceptance Portal), which is a common platform for candidates to apply for their preferred IITs. The registrations process of COAP started on March 19, 2025. Candidates seeking M.Tech admissions in any of the participating Institutes of COAP and who have a valid GATE score (2025, 2023, 2022) can register at COAP. 

Admissions into State Universities through GATE 2025

Post announcement of GATE results, state universities and other private institutes will be organising the GATE counselling procedure for admission to M.Tech programmes. The separate application forms will have to be filled by the candidates according to the institute they are applying for. The selection process will depend upon the institutes individually.

Admissions into NITs, IIITs and CFTIs M.Tech Programmes through GATE 2025

Candidates can apply for all the 30 NITs and 9 CFTIs through GATE CCMT Counselling. Filling of programme and institute choices have to be done by the candidates after which allotment will be done according to the candidates’ rank in the GATE exam and preferences selected during CCMT registration.

Detailed GATE Counselling Process 2025 through CCMT

To participate in the GATE counselling process, candidates will have to register themselves with CCMT. The admission into various post-graduate courses will depend on the GATE score.

Stage 1: Registration

GATE registration is the first step in the counselling process. To take part in the counselling rounds, all the qualified candidates will have to first register themselves, failing which they will not be allowed to participate in the GATE 2025 counselling procedure. After registering, candidates will have to fill in their correct details to proceed further.

Stage 2: Choice Filling and Locking

After successful registration, the next step that follows is choice filling and locking. Here, candidates will have to make the choices regarding the courses. It is advisable for the candidates, to fill the most preferred choice on the top. After filling the choices, candidates will have to lock their choices by using the choice locking option.

Note: No modifications shall be made in the choices after locking the same.

Stage 3: Seat Allotment

This is the most important stage of the GATE 2025 counselling process. Here, candidates will be allotted seats on the basis of the choices filled by the candidates, their rank, and the availability of seats at that rank.

Stage 4: Reporting

It is the final stage of the GATE 2025 counselling process. This stage involves reporting at the nodal centre and then document verification.

Financial Assistance for GATE 2025

Except for the M.Mgt students, all the other students will be eligible for a scholarship from UGC/CSIR/DBT/ICMR/DAE(NBHM)/AICTE on the basis of their entry mode. MHRD scholarships can be availed some IISc students provided they fulfil the MHRD scholarship eligibility criteria. The meritorious students can avail several scholarships offered by top Business tycoons and Indian & Multinational agencies.
