Tamil Nadu Board Class 10 Grading System 2025: The Directorate of Government Examination (DGE), Tamil Nadu has set the eight point grading system. The grades start from “A1” which is the highest grade and ends at “E” which is the lowest grade. The board has a set range of marks for which grades are provided. There is a slight difference in marks for language and non-language subjects. In the table below, students can check the marks range and grades provided by the board. It will also give them an idea about the grades they can achieve depending on their score.
After the announcement of the result, when the board will release the Tamil Nadu class 10 marksheet 2025 , the students will be able to check the grades. In addition to the grades, students can also check the grade points. The students who secure A1 grade will be provided with 10 grade points. The lowest grade point to be achieved by students will be “4”. The students who fail in a subject will be provided with “E” grade and no grade point. Tamil Nadu Board Class 10 Grading System 2025: Scheme of Exam
The Tamil Nadu Board Examination 2025 is conducted for 6 subjects, which include 2 language Subjects and 4 Electives. The table given below represents the Subjects and the time allotted to complete the exams.

The Maximum marks for each subject are 100. Out of these 100, written examinations will be conducted for 70 marks while the practicals and the internals hold 30 marks. The medium of the Question Paper will be Tamil and English. Students are also permitted to write the answers in these languages only.
Tamil Nadu Board Class 10 Grading System 2025: Passing Criteria
Students will need to score at least 35 marks out of 100 marks in each subject to pass. Only the students with 35 and above marks will be considered passed. The marks for internal assessment, practical, and theory will all be included together. Tamil Nadu Board Class 10 Grading System 2025: Result Revaluation
After the announcement of the Tamil Nadu Class 10 result, the students can apply for revaluation if they are not satisfied with the marks. The board will provide the revaluation forms online. The students who are not satisfied with their marks can apply for revaluation. They will have to fill the revaluation form and make a payment of INR 505 per subject. The board charges the revaluation fee for each subject which has to be paid while submitting the revaluation form. The form should be filled before the deadline. After a few days, the board will release the revaluation result online. After the revaluation, the marks can be increased or decreased. In both the cases, marks will be considered final.
Tamil Nadu Board Class 10 Grading System 2025: Compartment Exams
The students who fail to get the minimum passing marks in the Tamil Nadu Board class 10th Exam can appear for compartment exams. The board conducts the compartment exams for students who could not secure 35% marks in any subject. The board allows students to appear for any subjects in the Tamil Nadu Board Compartment Exams 2025. This will be a chance for them to improve their score and pass the exam. To sit for compartment exams, students will have to fill the compartment exam form. The board will release the compartment exam forms online. By paying the fee as per the number of subjects, students will have to submit the form before the deadline. It is expected that the board will conduct the compartment exams in June 2025. After this, the TN board will release the compartment result in July 2025. The marks obtained in the compartment exams will be considered final and counted in the marksheet.
