Tamil Nadu Class 12 Exam Pattern 2025

There is a specific exam pattern that will be followed by DGE Tamil Nadu to conduct the board examination. Students can refer to the basic information about the exam pattern and the type of papers that will be conducted for the various languages and other subjects included in the curriculum here:

  • Part 1 will consist of the language paper. There are different languages included in the curriculum such as Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, Urdu, Sanskrit, Arabic, French, and German.
  • Part 2 is the compulsory English language paper.
  • Part 3 will consist of all the other subjects as provided by the DGE Tamil Nadu authorities. The list of the subjects included in the different streams will be provided by the board authorities to the students to be chosen accordingly.
  • The theory paper will be conducted for 70 marks and the practical paper will be conducted for 30 marks which will include 20 marks for practical and 10 marks for internal assessment.

Tamil Nadu Class 12 Grading System 2025: Marking Scheme

Students can refer to the basic information about the marking scheme for the question papers provided by the DGE Tamil Nadu authorities during the board exams given here:

  • Section A of the question paper will consist of 15 MCQs and each MCQ will be structured for one mark to be answered by the students with no negative marking.
  • Section B of the question paper will consist of very short answer-type questions for 2 marks each. There will be a total of 6 questions in this section.
  • Section C will consist of short answer type questions for 3 marks each. There are a total of 6 questions in this section.
  • Section D will consist of long answer-type questions for 5 marks each. Students are supposed to answer only 5 questions in this section.
