Never Miss an Exam Update

UP Board 12th Grading System 2025 consists of grades from A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2, D, E1, and E2. The UPMSP (Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad) follows a 10-point grading system for the 12th-grade exams. The grades range from A1 to E2, with A1 awarded for scores between 90 to 100 marks, and E2 given to students scoring below 21 marks. To pass the exam, students must score at least a grade D or a minimum of 33 marks. Students who score less than 33 marks are considered to have failed. The UP Board 12th result marksheet includes both the grades and the corresponding grade points. This grading system is consistent across all streams—Science, Arts, and Commerce. In practicals, A grade is provided to the people who score more than 80% marks. The information about the marks obtained by the students and their grades will be reflected in their UP Board 12th Result 2025 .

The UP Board 12th Exams are evaluated using the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) system. Under this pattern, theory exams carry a weightage of 70 marks, while practical assessments and internal tests account for 30 marks of the total evaluation. According to the CCE evaluation guidelines, failing in one subject, except Hindi, does not result in overall failure in the UP Board examinations. However, candidates who fail in two subjects are required to appear for the UP Board 12th Compartment Exams. Furthermore, students failing in three subjects have the opportunity to reappear for those specific subjects in the next academic year. Students can easily calculate their percentage by using the grading system put forward by the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad. Students need to secure 33% marks in theory as well as in practical exams to be considered a “Pass”. Both in theory and practical exams, students are required to obtain at least a “D” grade to be considered a passing student. Failing to do so, students must sit for the compartment exam. Calculating Percentage Using Grade Points in the UP Board 12th Grading System

To determine the Grade Point Average (GPA) for the UP Board 12th Exams, students must add up the grade points earned in all subjects and divide the total by the number of subjects.

Example of GPA Calculation:

Suppose a student earns the following grade points:

  • English: 8
  • Hindi: 8
  • Mathematics: 9
  • Science: 6
  • Social Science: 9

Adding these grade points gives a total of 40 (8 + 8 + 9 + 6 + 9 = 40).
To calculate the GPA, divide the total grade points by the number of subjects.
For this example:
GPA = Total Grade Points ÷ Number of Subjects
GPA = 40 ÷ 5 = 8

Converting GPA to Percentage:

To convert the GPA into a percentage, use the formula:
Percentage = GPA × 9.5

For example, if the GPA is 8:
Percentage = 8 × 9.5 = 76%

This simple formula helps students understand their equivalent percentage score based on the GPA achieved in the UP Board 12th examinations.
