Calculating Percentage Using Grade Points in the UP Board 12th Grading System

To determine the Grade Point Average (GPA) for the UP Board 12th Exams, students must add up the grade points earned in all subjects and divide the total by the number of subjects.

Example of GPA Calculation:

Suppose a student earns the following grade points:

  • English: 8
  • Hindi: 8
  • Mathematics: 9
  • Science: 6
  • Social Science: 9

Adding these grade points gives a total of 40 (8 + 8 + 9 + 6 + 9 = 40).
To calculate the GPA, divide the total grade points by the number of subjects.
For this example:
GPA = Total Grade Points ÷ Number of Subjects
GPA = 40 ÷ 5 = 8

Converting GPA to Percentage:

To convert the GPA into a percentage, use the following formula:
Percentage = GPA × 9.5

For example, if the GPA is 8:
Percentage = 8 × 9.5 = 76%

This simple formula helps you understand your equivalent percentage score based on the GPA achieved in the UP Board 12th examinations.
