HPBOSE 12th Grading System 2025 is a nine-point grading system. It includes grades from A1 to E2. Based on the marks achieved by students, they will be awarded with the grades. Among all grades, A1 is the highest grade and E2 is the lowest grade. The students who score above 90 marks will be provided with A1 grade. It is necessary for students to secure at least grade “D”. The students scoring marks between 33 and 40 will be awarded with “D” grade. The students who score below 33 marks will be provided with grades E1 (21 to 32 marks) and E2 (00 to 20 marks). HPBOSE 12th Grading System 2025: Passing Criteria
HPBOSE provides an official circular outlining the minimum and maximum marks for Class 12th subjects, covering theory, practicals, and internal assessments. According to HPBOSE guidelines, a student must secure a minimum of 33% in both theory and practical/internal examinations to obtain a pass certificate. Additionally, a student must achieve at least 33% in aggregate across each subject.
The following are the HPBOSE guidelines for Class 12th candidates:
- A candidate will receive a pass certificate if they obtain a grade higher than an 'E' in all internal assessment subjects, unless exempt.
- To be declared passed in the final examination, a candidate must secure at least 33% marks in all four external examination subjects, whether in the main or compartmental exams.
- The pass marks for each subject in the external exam will be 33%. For subjects with practical work, a candidate must score 33% in both theory and practicals separately.
- Candidates who are exempt from internal examination subjects are still eligible to appear in the external exam. However, the final result will depend on meeting other passing criteria.

Theory Exam
The theory papers are normally conducted for 80 marks however some papers can also be conducted for 60 marks depending upon the curriculum. Students can check the passing marks for all these subjects from the table given below:

HPBOSE 12th Grading System 2025: Exam Pattern

- 80% marks will be given based on the theory exams conducted by the board authorities.
- 20% marks will be provided on the evaluation done by the schools.
