NIOS 10th Exam Pattern

Group A and B subjects make up the NIOS 10th exam pattern. The NIOS exam is conducted for a total of three hours. The NIOS Class 10 exam is conducted for 100, i.e., each paper carries a maximum of 100 marks. Students can check the complete NIOS 10th exam pattern from the board's official website for a broader view. All the students must pass at least five subjects, including one or at most two language papers from Group A' and the other three to four subjects from Group B.' However, the students can opt for two additional subjects at the secondary level. Hence they can select at most seven subjects.
The grading of subjects is made of two parts, Tutor Marked Assignments, or TMAs and the final examinations. TMAs make approximately 20% of the grade for subjects like Group A subjects that don't require practicals. For most subjects, the final examination will last three hours. Some disciplines, including Home Science, have exams that last for 2.5 hours, however.

For the subjects with practicals, such as some of the Group B subjects, the breakdown will be as follows:

  • The final exam will be of 85 marks but will be scaled down to take 64 as the maximum marks.
  • The TMAs will be of 20 marks, but will also be scaled down to take 16 as the maximum marks.
  • The practicals will be of 20 marks.

NIOS 10th Syllabus 2025

Students appearing for the upcoming NIOS 10th exam must go through the latest syllabus to be aware of the marking scheme, typologies of the questions, and important topics. The NIOS 10th syllabus is the same for both public and on-demand exams. The NIOS 10th syllabus includes the subjects from 2 different groups - Group A and Group B. In Group A, the syllabus consists of language-based issues. At the same time, in Group B, there are other core subjects such as Mathematics, Science and Technology, Social Science, Economics, Business Studies, and so on. Students are advised to complete the syllabus two months before the commencement of the exam. After completing the syllabus, students must practice the sample and the previous year's question papers.

NIOS 10th Passing Criteria 2025

Students will have to score at least 33% marks to pass the NIOS 10th examinations 2025. The students need to score good marks in both theory and practicals separately to get an aggregate passing score.

NIOS 10th Question Papers 2025

For every academic session, NIOS releases sample papers and previous year's question papers for the students appearing for the board examinations so that they get an understanding of the typologies and difficulty level of questions asked. Students who are preparing for the class 10th board examinations, must download the NIOS 10th sample papers and practice them. Students enrolled in NIOS Class 10 can use the previous year’s question papers and answers to understand the grading structure, difficulty level, and key topics. NIOS provides sample papers/previous years' question papers for the students to be able to get an insight into the type of questions asked.
