UP Board Class 12 English Syllabus 2024-25 is prepared by the Uttar Pradesh board. Students can check out the syllabus online to clearly understand the topics included in the Class 12th English Syllabus. The syllabus is divided into four sections i.e. Section A, B, C, D - Reading, Writing, Grammar and Literature with a weightage of 15, 20, 25, 40 respectively. In the question paper from reading section, unseen passages will be asked, the writing section will include letters, articles, etc., in grammar section 10 MCQs and short answer type questions will be included, and the last section literature will have the questions from poetry, etc. The maximum marks weightage is assigned to the Literature section. UP Board Class 12 English exam is conducted for a total of 100 marks. UP Board 12th English Syllabus 2024-25 Course Structure
To perform well in the UP board exams, students must not leave any topic mentioned in the syllabus. They should cover up the entire syllabus in advance. Section A- Reading
- One long unseen passage followed by four short answer type questions and three vocabulary questions.
Section B- writing
- Article/(Descriptive, Argumentative/ autobiographical) in about 100 to 150 words 10
- Letter to the Editor/ complaint letters/Business letter (Placing orders/ Booking or cancellation / making enquiries etc)
Section C- Grammar
- Ten questions (MCQ and very short answer type questions) based on Narration, Synthesis, Transformation, Syntax and vocabulary items like idioms and Phrases/ phrasal Verbs, Synonyms, Antonyms, One word substitution, Homophones
- Translation from Hindi to English (7 to 8 Sentences)
Section D- Literature
Flamingo- Text book Prose
- Two short answer type questions 4+4=8
- One long answer type question
Poetry
- Three very short answer type questions based on the given poetry extract
Note- (Questions related to identification of the following figures of speech will be included in the poetry section- (Simile, Metaphor, Personification, Oxymoron, Apostrophe, Hyperbole, Onomatopoeia).
