Never Miss an Exam Update

RT in CBSE Marksheet 2025 stands for Repeat Theory. CBSE has introduced a new abbreviation, xxxx, in the marksheet which means 'Improvement'. This applies to the students who appeared for 6 subjects and could not clear one subject. Those who receive RT against a subject will have to appear for the theory paper during the compartment exam. This means that such students can appear for the improvement exam of that paper as a private candidate in the next year. However, appearing for the improvement exams will be given as an option to the students, as it is not mandatory. Regardless of the outcome of the improvement exams, your original result remains valid.

All the appearing students must obtain a minimum of 33% in both theory and practical exams separately. When the candidate fails to secure 33% in the theory paper, he/ she is given the RT. Moreover, if any candidate receives more than one RT, he/ she will have to repeat his/ her class. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will declare the CBSE Class 12 Result 2025 in May 2025, on its official website.

  • A candidate will be eligible to get the Pass Certificate if he/she gets a grade higher than E in all subjects of internal assessment unless he/she is exempted. Failing this, the result of the external examination will be withheld but not for more than one year.
  • To pass external exams, students must achieve more than 33% marks separately in theory, practical, and aggregate.
  • Candidates failing in one or two subjects included in the curriculum will be placed in the compartment exam category.
  • If a student fails a subject and is placed in the compartment exam category, they can reappear for the compartmental examination in July/August. If they fail again, they can take a second chance in March/April of the next year. If they still fail, they can take a third chance by appearing for the compartmental examinations to be held in July/August of that year. However, to be declared as 'Pass', the candidate must pass the compartmental subject/subjects in which they had previously failed.
  • The passing criteria for the compartment exam are the same as those of the initial board exam.

Students must check their marksheets thoroughly to see if there are any abbreviations displayed on them so that they can take further action. If they see “RT” in the CBSE Marksheet then they must proceed with the application for compartment or improvement exams.
