In addition to this CBSE grading system, a student also secures a CGPA score (cumulative grade point assessment), which defines the average of grade points in all main subjects. How to calculate percentages using Grade Points for CBSE Class 12th?

To calculate the percentage using the CBSE Class 12 Grading System 2025, add the grade points for the five main subjects and then divide the sum by 5. The last step is to multiply the average grade point by 9.5 and the value thus obtained will be the required Percentage. For example, Suppose a CBSE Board student secures the following grade points for the five main subjects

CBSE Board Subjects

Grade Points

SUBJECT 1

9

SUBJECT 2

8

SUBJECT 3

9

SUBJECT 4

6

SUBJECT 5

8

TOTAL

40

Now, the following steps are to be followed to calculate the CGPA:

  • Add the grade points i.e 9+8+9+6+8 = 40
  • Divide the sum by 5 i.e 40/5 = 8
  • Hence, the CGPA obtained is 8.0
