ICSE Class 10 English Exam Pattern 2024-25
: There are two papers for English, Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 1 includes questions related to the English language and Paper 2 will be based on English literature. The theory paper will be conducted for 80 marks and the 20 marks are internal assessment. As per ICSE 10th English Blueprint, in paper 1, the grammar and writing skills of the students will be tested by the examiners. There will be questions on compositions, essays and letters to be attempted by the students. On paper 2, there will be questions related to Drama, Prose (Short Stories), and Poetry. ICSE Class 10 English Exam Pattern 2024-25
As per ICSE 10th English Blueprint, two papers will be conducted in English. Both papers will be conducted for 80 marks and 40 marks will be allotted for internal assessments for both papers. ICSE Class 10 English Internal Assessment Blueprint 2024-25

Paper 1 - English Language
For the English language, students will be tested for their learning and speaking skills. Check the exam pattern from the table given below:

Listening Skills | A passage of about 300 words is read aloud by the examiner twice, the first time at a normal reading speed (about 110 words a minute) and the next time at a slower speed. Candidates may make brief notes during the readings. They then answer an objective type test based on the passage, on the paper provided. The recommended number of candidates at a sitting is 30. | 10 |
Speaking Skills | Each candidate is required to make an oral presentation for about two minutes, which will be followed by a discussion on the subject with the examiners, for about three minutes. Subjects for presentation may include narrating an experience, providing a description, giving directions on how to make or operate something, expressing an opinion, giving a report, relating an anecdote, or commenting on a current event. A candidate may refer to brief notes in the course of the presentation but reading or excessive dependence on notes will be penalized. | 10 |
Paper 2 - Literature in English

ICSE Class 10 English Question Paper Pattern 2024-25
Specimen question papers are now available on the official website of CISCE. Students can refer to the information about the question paper pattern from the pointers given below according to the different papers:
Paper 1
- The duration of the question paper will be two hours.
- 15 minutes will be provided for the students to read the question paper.
- A total of 80 marks are allotted for the question paper.
- A total of five questions are included in the question paper.
Paper 2
- A total of 80 marks are allotted for the question paper.
- The duration of the question paper is 2 hours with 15 minutes provided for reading the question paper.
- The question paper will be divided into four sections.
- Section A is compulsory and the students must attempt all the questions included in the first section.
- Students must attempt one question from Sections B, C, and D and one additional question from the section of their choice.
