The Directorate of Government Examinations was originally founded in 1911 and later formed as a separate entity for the state of Tamil Nadu, in February 1975. The first matriculation exam was introduced by the board in 1978 while the higher secondary examination was introduced in 1980. The main function of the board is to scholastically assess the academics of the students, release the results on time, and issue certificates. It also plans and designs the curriculum of all classes and recommends textbooks to be studied by respective classes. The Tamil Nadu State Board is entrusted with the responsibility of managing all the schools under its affiliation. Each year about 8 to 9 lakh students appear for the Tamil Nadu 10th and 12th board exams. Tamil Nadu 10th, 12th Board 2025: Registration Form
To appear for the board exams conducted by Tamil Nadu’s DGE, students are required to register with the board authorities via their school. School authorities and teachers will guide the students in completing their registration with offline forms. The students must fill it out under the guidance of their parents or get them checked by their parents or teachers. All the information must be mentioned correctly while filling up the registration form. Once the registration is complete, students will not be allowed to make any new changes. Any deliberate errors on the registration form will further be reflected in their admit cards and mark sheets.
The Tamil Nadu board registration process will start in December 2024. The schools have to upload the details from the application forms to the board’s website. Private candidates have to visit their study centers to fill out the forms. Candidates have to pay a fee of INR 125 while completing the registration process. Completing the registration after the last date will lead to a fine of INR 1,000. The information that needs to be provided during the registration process is the name of the candidate, gender, date of birth, birthplace, phone number, photograph, and others.

Tamil Nadu 10th, 12th Board 2025: Admit Card
The Tamil Nadu Board admit card 2025 is released 15 days before the commencement of the board exams. School authorities have a separate login portal on the official website of DGE. The school must download, print, and share the admit cards with the students. Students will be shared admit cards in the first week of March 2025. Admit card is a mandatory document that serves as an entry pass to enter the examination hall. Students must carry their admit cards to be allowed to enter the exam halls. Students are also suggested to carry their school ID and a photo ID proof to verify their identity. Any spelling mistake on the admit card must be informed to the school as early as possible. The admit cards will carry the student's name, date of birth, registration number, roll number, date of exam, details of exam center, exam timings, and others. The students are also suggested to keep the admit cards safe.
Tamil Nadu 10th, 12th Board 2025: Result
Tamil Nadu Board Result 2025 will be released in May 2025. The students can check their results from the official website of DGE. Students only need to keep their admit card details handy and enter the required information on the results portal. The minimum qualifying score required for the Tamil Nadu Board is 35 marks, below which the students will be declared fail. Students will also be allowed to apply for re-evaluating their subject-wise answer sheet by paying the fees and submitting the re-evaluation request online.
Only the registration number, date of birth, and captcha code are required to access the results. Students and parents can also sign up for the SMS facility and get notified of the results. The original mark sheets will be shared through their schools within a few days. The result card will display the candidate’s name, subjects appeared, marks obtained, full marks, grade, and passing status. Private students can collect their mark sheets from the district collector’s office. The results are graded from A+ to E.
Tamil Nadu 10th, 12th Board 2025: Compartment Exams
TN HSC SSLC Compartment exams are designed by the Tamil Nadu board to help students who have failed in any number of subjects to take the exam again and save a year.
- The Tamil Nadu SSLC and HSC Compartment Exams 2025 will take place in June 2025.
- Regular students can access the application forms from their schools whereas private candidates will get them from their respective government examination centers.
- The TN 12th board supplementary fee is INR 235 for each subject and for the 10th board, it is INR 175. Students who fail to fill up the form within the stipulated time can avail of the Tatkal option and book their examinations for a late fee of INR 500 and INR 1000 for classes 10 and 12 respectively.
- Tamil Nadu 10th and 12th Supplementary Exams 2025 Admit cards will be distributed for the examination via schools and government examination centers.
