DST Full Form

DST full form is Department of Science and Technology. It is part of the Ministry of Science and Technology of India which aims to promote the development of science and technology in the country. The  Department of Science and Technology was established on 3 May 1971.

What is the Full Form of DST?

As mentioned above the full form of DST is the Department of Science and Technology.It is a division under the Ministry of Science and Technology of India. It was founded on May 3, 1971, with the aim of promoting the new development of science and technology and playing an important role in organizing, coordinating, and supporting research and national technology. It also provides funds to scientific projects that are approved in India and also encourages and facilitates the experimental work of Indian scientists and encourages them to attend conferences abroad. 

Establishment of DST

The Government of India established the Department of Science and Technology (DST). Since its establishment, DST has played an important role in the development and promotion of science and technology in the country and has supported various research and development projects and projects aimed at promoting innovation and entrepreneurship. DST works closely with other government agencies, academia and industry partners to achieve its goals and is a key player in the development and implementation of India's technology policy. 

The Reason Behind Establishing DST

The Indian Department of Science and Technology (DST) was established in May 1971 by the Government of India to promote research and development in science and technology and support the development of India's knowledge. Since its inception, India has faced many challenges related to the development and promotion of science and technology, including lack of infrastructure and research funding, under-recognition of the importance of science and technology, and lack of support for science and technology DST was established with the aim of solving these problems and promoting the development of science and technology in India.

Tasks Performed By DST

DST performs many different tasks which are related to projects & programs. Below mentioned are some tasks that are performed by DST 

• Helps in the formulation of policies that are related to science & technology.
• It handles all matters which are related to the Scientific Committee of Cabinet.
• Support new areas of science and technology by focusing on new areas such as biofuel production, processing, and use of products to create value-added chemicals.
• It also coordinates areas related to science & technology consisting of cross-sectoral linkages
• Helps in managing & coordinating management information for science & technology 
• Promote science and technology at the national, regional and local levels through the State Science & Technology Council.

DST’s Internal Structure 

• The office of Secretary: This is the highest decision-making body in DST and is responsible for setting the department's overall direction and policy.
• The Department of Biotechnology: The department is responsible for promoting and supporting research & development in the field of biotechnology, including research funding and the promotion of innovation and entrepreneurship.
• The DST for Development: The division is responsible for promoting the use of science and technology for national development, including the creation and implementation of laws and technologies to solve social problems and challenges related to the economy.
• The Department of Science & Industrial Research: The department is responsible for supporting and promoting research and development in science and industry, including research funding and the promotion of innovation and entrepreneurship.
• DST Entrepreneurship: The department is responsible for promoting and promoting entrepreneurship in science and technology, including projects and providing help to researchers and entrepreneurs to develop new technology and start-up ventures.

Objectives of DST

• Promotes and supports research & DST: DST funds scientific and technological research by supporting a variety of research and development in various fields, including basic and applied research.
• Promotes innovation & entrepreneurship: DST supports initiatives to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in the country, including projects, and also helps researchers and entrepreneurs to develop new technologies and start new businesses. 
• Promotes the development of economy-based knowledge: DST is fully committed to contributing to the growth of India's knowledge economy by supporting research and development activities that have the potential to create new jobs and stimulate economic growth.
• Develop & implement policies related to science and technology: DST plays a key role in the development and implementation of India's science and technology policy, working with government agencies, academic sectors, and industry partners to ensure that these policies are effective and meet the needs of the country.
• Promotes education and awareness regarding science and technology: DST supports initiatives to promote education and knowledge in the country through projects and events designed to educate the public on the importance of science and technology and the role it plays in our lives.

Drug Susceptibility Testing
