NIFT full form is National Institute of Fashion Technology. NIFT is an autonomous institute offering a variety of programs in fashion, design, management, and technology. The NIFT offers Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and PGD programs. Its headquarters is situated in  New Delhi, India.

What is the Full Form of NIFT?

As mentioned above the full form of NIFT is the National Institute of Fashion Technology. The NIFT was established in 1986 under the Ministry of Textiles of the Government of India. Later in the year 2006 the institute was declared as statutory and has the power to award its own degrees under the NIFT Act of the Indian Parliament. All the institutes of NIFT are considered very prestigious as institutes of NIIT, and IIT. The institutes mainly focus on developing professional and innovative people who can contribute to the fashion industry. NIFT has several campuses almost in every major Indian city including New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Chennai, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Patna, and Bhopal.

NIFT was established in 1986 under the Ministry of Textiles It was enacted in 2006 and has the power to award its own degree under the NIFT Act of the Indian Parliament. The National Institute of Fashion Technology has a total of 18 campuses across India

Eligibility Criteria for NIFT

Before enrolling in the NIFT institute all interested candidates have to qualify the NIFT examination. Below are the eligibility criteria for the NIFT Examination:

UG Courses

  • Candidates must pass grade 12 from any recognized board. NIFT applicants may also hold a diploma or graduation from an institution recognized by AICTE or the State Board of Technical Education.
  • The maximum age of the candidate can be 24 years
  • Candidates belonging to SC, ST, and PHP category gets an age extension of 5 years i.e. 29 years 

PG Courses 

  • There is no upper age limit for master courses (M Des, M.FTech, and MFM).
  • Admission to M.Des and MFM requires a UG degree from a university or institution accredited by the Government of India.
  • Applicants must have a degree of BF. Tech from NIFT or B.E./B.Tech degree from a recognized university or college.

Step 2: Go through the NIFT application form section/link

Step 3: Enter all the required details such as name, parents name, gender, etc.

Step 4: Upload all the documents that consist of signatures, documents, and photographs.

Step 5: Review the application form before submitting

Step 6: Pay the application fee amount

Step 7: Download or print out the application form for future ref.

NIFT Examination Pattern

The examination of NIFT is divided into two stages 

1st stage includes The General Ability Test (GAT) and Creative Ability Test (CAT). The GAT examination is held through computer-based test (CBT) and the CAT exam is held offline.

2nd stage consists of a personal interview but only shortlisted candidates are allowed to appear in 2d round
