Role of NEET in an Aspiring Doctor's Life

NEET is the first step in the journey of becoming a doctor. Students who aspire to become a doctor need to clear NEET. NEET Conducting Body

The National Test Agency (NTA) is the test-conducting body for NEET. It was formed in 2017 after NEET replaced AIPMT (All India Pre-medical Test). The NTA works under the guidance of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). NTA's responsibility is to conduct the exam and share the results with the DGHS. The rest of the process from counseling to seat allotment is taken care of by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).

As per the official NEET eligibility criteria, candidates should have passed 12th board exams from a recognized school/university with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology as their core subjects. The minimum passing percentage to qualify for NEET is 50% aggregate marks. 
The age of the candidate must be at least 17 years as on December 31st of the admission year. A little leverage has been given to the candidates belonging to the SC/ST/OBC category as the minimum marks required to obtain them is 40%.

·       ST- 7.5 %

·       OBC-NCL- 27%

·       EWS- 10%

NEET 2024 Exam Process

The candidates applying for NEET Exam have to follow the process to be eligible for NEET. The candidates have to follow the complete process to know the exam pattern. The process of NEET Exam involves:

  • Application Form: NTA will release the NEET UG 2024 application form on the official website i.e neet.nta.nic.in. To be eligible for the NEET exam, the application must be filled and successfully submitted before the last date mentioned in the notification.
  • Release of Admit Card: After the registration process is over, then the candidates must keep a track on the official notification to be released by NTA. A few days after the exam, the admit card is released. The candidates can successfully download the NEET admit card by entering login details.
  • Release of exam date: The official guidelines and the exam date is released by the NTA. The candidates must adhere to the basic guidelines issued by the authority. Before entering the exam halls, the guidelines must be followed. Else, there can be the chance of restraining the students from taking the exam.
  • Answer Key Release: After the concussion of NEET exam, the candidates are advised to keep an eye on the official updates regarding release of the answer key. The authority releases the provisional answer key. Students can raise objections or challenge in case of any discrepancy. Generally, the answer key is released after a month of the exam. 
  • Announcement of Result: The NTA NEET Exam result is declared by the authority in an online mode after the exam. The candidates can access and download the NEET scorecard from the official website.
