IGNOU full form is Indira Gandhi National Open University. It is an open university situated in New Delhi. The university was named after former PM Indira Gandhi. The university has been accredited with NAAC A++ and NIRf Ranking of 151-300 which is a big feat. Currently in India there are 56 regional centres of IGNOU.

As mentioned above, the full-form of IGNOU is Indira Gandhi National Open University. It is an open university maintained and administered by the central government. The University was founded in the year 1985 through an act of parliament and in honour of former PM Indira Gandhi. They offer education in open and distance learning. IGNOU has 56 regional centers, 21 schools, 29 international partners, around 2, 000 student support centers and around 4 million enrolled students. They offer around 228 courses which include certifications, degrees, diplomas and doctoral in multiple fields. The university provides education in every regional language such as Marathi, Odiya, Telugu, Assamese, Bengali, Kashmiri, Meitei, Bhojpuri, Punjabi, Malayalam and Nepali.

The IGNOU has its educational portal named as e-GyanKosh which is a flagship program as it provides educational materials for all courses at no cost and can be accessed by everyone. The Potal is recognized as National Digital Repository which stores, preserve and share learning resources which are developed for Open and distance students. All he content published are copyright protected . They offer study material for around 2,565 courses.

What are the Eligibility Criteria for IGNOU?

For UG

  • Age: There is no maximum age limit
  • Educational Qualification: The candidate should have a minimum of 50% in 10+2

For PG

  • Age: No age limit for taking admission
  • Educational Qualification: The candidate should graduate with a minimum of 50 %

Additional 5% of relaxation i.e 45% to SC/ST candidates
