Roles of CISF

1. Industrial Security: CISF, full form of which is Central Industrial Security Force, is responsible for safeguarding various public sectors such as industrial units, airports, seaports, nuclear power plants, oil refineries, and other sensitive installations against potential threats and security breaches.
2. Aviation Security: CISF plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of the civil aviation sector by providing security services at major airports across India.
3. Disaster Management: The force is well-trained in disaster response and management, making them an essential resource during natural calamities and emergencies.
4. VIP Security: CISF personnel are often assigned to provide security to important government officials and dignitaries, both within India and during overseas visits of these officials.

6. Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs): The CISF maintains Quick Reaction Teams that can respond swiftly to any security threat or emergency situation.

Organization of CISF

• The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF full form) operates under the Ministry of Home Affairs in India. The Director General is the head of the CISF and is responsible for overseeing the overall functioning and administration of the force. The DG holds the highest rank and is appointed by the government.
• The CISF may have several ADGs and IGs who assist the DG in various administrative and operational matters.
• The CISF is divided into several zones, each headed by a Deputy Inspector General (DIG). The zones are responsible for coordinating the operations of different units under their jurisdiction.
• Each CISF zone is further divided into sectors, which are led by a Sector Inspector General (Sect IG) or a Sector Deputy Inspector General (Sect DIG). Sectors are responsible for the overall security and operations within a specific geographical area.
• Under each sector, there are various units that are responsible for providing security to specific industrial installations, public sector undertakings, and critical infrastructure. These units are headed by Commandants or Deputy Commandants, depending on their size and importance. CISF currently has more than 170,000 units.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF full form) conducts recruitment exams for various positions within the force. The CISF exam is a selection process that allows candidates to apply for and compete for specific job roles offered by the force. The CISF exam includes written tests, physical efficiency tests, medical examinations, and interviews, depending on the position being applied for. In 2023, it was held on the 23rd and 30th of July and the 6th of August.

CISF Eligibility

• Age Requirements: The candidate must be between 18-27 years old.
• Educational Requirements: Both 10th and 12th graduates are allowed. Tenth graduates usually apply for Constable posts and 12th graduates for Head Constable and Ministerial Categories. 12th graduates must have science as a subject.
• Nationality: The candidates must be Indian.
