History of MPPSC

  • The Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC full form) was established on 15 August 1956, under the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission Act, 1956. 
  • The commission was constituted to conduct competitive examinations for the recruitment of officers in the state.
  • The first chairman of the MPPSC was Shrimati Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay.
  • The Madhya Pradesh State Civil Service Examination of 1957 was the first exam conducted by MPPSC.
  • Previously in 2016 the MPPSC began conducting the MadhyaPradesh State Combined Competitive Examination (MPCCE) for the recruitment of officers to various state-level civil services. 

What is the Function of MPPSC?

The MPPSC functions are amended under amendment no 41 of the constitution of India and Articles no. 375 and 376. The MPPSC performs several functions including conducting competitive examinations for the recruitment of officers, making direct recruitments of civil services in the state, making promotions of the state-level officers in any department, conducting departmental tests for several departments  and making transfers in civil and departmental services from one department to another. 

What is the Eligibility Criteria for MPPSC?

Candidates before filling out the application for MPPSC, full form of which is Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission, must go through the eligibility criteria

  • The candidate must be an Indian
  • The minimum age for appearing in the examination is 21 years and the maximum age is 40 years
  • The minimum qualification should be a bachelor’s from any recognized university
  • Candidates should be physically and mentally fit. 

Eligibility on the basis of age:

For the general category: The minimum and maximum age of applying for the examination is 21 years and 40 years respectively.

For ST/ST/OBC category: The candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC category get a 5 years relaxation for examination i.e, their maximum age limit is 45 years.

What is the Examination Pattern of MPPSC?

The examination is conducted in three stages

  • Prelims

Prelims: The prelims exam consists of two papers of 200 marks each

General Aptitude Test

  • Total Duration 2 hours (for each)
  • Both the papers are objective

Mains: The mains exam consists of 6 papers

Hindi Essay
