What is the Full Form of IES?

As mentioned above the full form of IES is Indian Engineering Services conducted by UPSC to select the candidates for multiple posts in Govt. sector. The candidates are designated with class 1 officers who will work as engineers in Govt projects after clearing the exam. It is a written examination which includes six tests which have to be completed in four stages. The exam is held once a year. It is mandatory for all candidates to clear six tests. After qualifying the exam, the next round includes an interview. The President of India appoints IES officers on the recommendation by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC)

What are the Eligibility Criteria for IES?

Below are the eligibility criteria for IES

  • The candidate must be Indian 
  • Candidate should hold a graduation degree in engineering
  • Students pursuing final year in engineering can also apply·
  • The minimum and maximum age of appearing in examination is 21 to 30 years ·

Some relaxations are also provided which are mentioned below:

  • SC and ST candidates gets for 5 years
  • OBC candidates gets for 3 years 
  •  J&K residents for 5 years 
  •  Blind, deaf, and handicapped candidates get a relaxation of 10 years 
  •  5 years for ex-servicemen in sectors including commissioned officers, ECO’s
